Meet went well!!! I was off my gym PRs a bit in each lift, but for all three lifts with judging, I'm happy with my results.
I'll put up a full match report in the PL thread in a few days (spoilers in my sig) .
Today I'll post my squats, which remain my somewhat anxiety-provoking lift. I got the red lights for my first lift, but one of the judges explained that when I lean forward so much at the bottom my hips shoot out which changes the angle and puts me out of parallel.... I've been working to stay more upright and was able to hit my second and third lift. While I didn't get to try for a national record at 513, I was able to break 500 for the first time in a comp!

Bench also went well, was just enough off kilter throughout to not hit my gym PR for the meet. First lift the rack height was too high and it pulled me out of position but the 319 moved easily. Second attempt at 325 was harder than it should have been, not sure why but moved ok still. Tried 335 which I'd done fairly easily in the gym a few weeks before, but I rushed bringing the weight down which moved my shoulders and I failed at about the 66% mark. Still happy with hitting a meet PR. I broke my own state record but am still pretty far from the national/international record.

Deads: Feeling pretty loose and Deads are my home base. Opened at 519 and then hit my planned 540. Both were very smooth and got 3 whites (was mindful to fully lock out my knees which sometimes I've been dinged on).
Went for my PR number 555 and was pretty pumped. I think I was a little too pumped because I yelled as I broke the floor which expelled my air and lost my abdominal tightness... had a slight pause/hitch which gave me reds (legitimately) even though I for sure pulled the weight. Still, very happy overall!
Below I posted my 540 lift. I'll work on a full meet report and post the report in the PL forum and the link here.

    Here is 203 x 37 squat.

I think this was an AWESOME set here, the last rep looked better than the first. After watching it, it looks like I got stronger and stronger, during the end. Every rep was POWER!!!

So now I will keep adding 2# a week and try to maintain these reps for the next 50#. Lets see how that will go.

Back in this thread I did a set of 29 with a much lighter weight and stopped because my heavy breathing cramped my neck. Look how far I've come here..........

Hell I actually did 38 reps, tilting the bar is a rep too. I can't get enough of this style of lifting!!!

Super-impressive effort, Lawrence. I'll assume your count is accurate as I dont even have the stamina to sit and watch u squat for 5 minutes. Maybe next time speed up the video?

I do have a couple questions, like is that blue thing a toboggan and when are u painting the walls???

You're coming across as pretty dense today. You just need to go to YouTube and click on the gear icon. Then, you can change the speed of the video all by yourself.

Speeding up is no fun, the essence of this training is the fight. You know at 15 reps I wanted to stop. At rep 25 a calm came before me, and at rep 35 I laughed.

It’s important to see how the mind body reacts to this stuff....

Maybe I will paint a Zappa mustache on the wall...

The blue sled is the wifes she demands on snow days I pull her and the dog in it around the hood.

It's good. It's good for capillarization. I've done exercises in the 40-50 rep range for 8 weeks, 3 times. Do another mode of lifting after aroundish 8 weeks. You don't lose the endurance gains because they're a physical presence, they're the body.

EDIT: Even better, undulate from one workout to the next.

After taking off last week for recovery, I had an exhausting weekend driving down to LA and back (1700+ miles) over the weekend to pick up two older female Pyrenean Mastiffs from our puppies' breeder. The breeder (human) passed from COVID in January so the family was trying to find a home for all their doggos. The two we are adopting are in pretty bad shape and we hope to get them into the Vet asap and back on track to get healthier.

Yesterday started the new cycle, always good to set goals and get the next training going! I did some fairly heavy tempo squats followed by high rep pause squats - sleeveless/barefoot. Felt pretty good!

Glad you guys are keeping this thread alive, with so much political BS taking up most of the OV35 topics its refreshing to see some training talks/videos

I have changed my training up to something I have never done in all my years of lifting and that is doing each rep with an extremely slow tempo. I had to drop the weight but fk I feel it in the targeted muscle so much more. I've added drag curls into my routine and I never tried those before and they definitely hit the biceps directly.

Right on, brother. I have no doubt u will get those pups healthy, happy, and thriving. Please keep us updated on their progress.

I'm forced out of the gym from recent routine surgery, but chomping to get back to the glorious grind later this week.

Yeah, the misc stuff is ok, but I'm here for the gains! :P Tempo work is certainly different! Undulating programming applied correctly is the way to go (so doing tempo sometimes, while other times doing speed work and everything in between). Those tempos really did me in for sure.... every time I hit a hypertrophy phase the first week really kills me

Will let you know how the dogs do. My puppy keeps trying to get them to play but they're clearly not feeling up to it yet.

    Here is BOR 130 x 31

My last BOR vid was 133.

The style I'm doing here IMO is better than cranking them out without putting the bar down for a second, I felt it hit my lats and back harder. My goal is not more sets, but more reps in less sets and the heaviest weight possible.

thats double overhand grip but who cares... works your forearms more when you struggle to hold onto the bar.

there was a guy in rehab with me. he was a crazzzzzy good artist. sometimes when i would finish my workout id see him in the common room area he wouldbe sitting down with me and my workout buddies while we consumed ridiculous amounts of protien and oogled the few decent looking women in joint. (trust me, after 3 or 4 months of no phone and no nothing, all women gain about 2 points if not more).

so my point is. all that forearm work, including the double overhand grip, would give crazy pumps. this dude wanted to draw my veins. disregarding the slight weirdness of all that, i should have let him. we were all just a bunch of crazy people anyway.

anyway its good effort but more important...lol...how the fv ckk do i upload a video? or even pictures for that matter

Once they are on youtube you can post by putting [ youtube ] then just the letters/numbers after v= then [ /youtube ] without the spaces between the brackets.

    Couple points here-

1st I used a “hookgrip” so that does zero to affect gripping a light weight like that. Watch the vid I show my thumbs.

2nd I’m into strength building over bodybuilding, I’m a huge fan of grip strength and forearm strength work. I can double overhand dead lift medium weight for 20+ reps and my back and body will fail at the same time my grip or my grip will even hold better. This takes years and years of specific training especially with hands under 8”.

So if you see me doing dead’s for high reps with double overhand it’s because I WANT the benefits of forearms with the rest of the body.

I don’t waste my time with wrist curls. Dead lifting 300+ and working towards 400 for many reps takes care of all the above.

    This is just me......

Yesterday started out pretty light with some tempo bench, then went high reps with pause bench, moved on to high rep JM presses, but since I didn't feel the burn enough I doubled up on accessories... all in all a good day.

PHD and LWW keeping the >35 legit!

Really fun to watch you guys getting it. LWW may secretly be the dude I want to train with. But I am afraid I would not be able to contain myself and would end up hurt doing some Steinborn squats!!!

Anyway. I have realize what a lazy pu$$y I have been these past few years. I just never follow through on something I have wanted to do always. I want to be 'in shape' for summer. I know everyone's definition is different, but for me it will really be the pinnacle of where I have ever been lifetime.

Just been too lazy and did not want to make the sacrifices. Well, I have one more year till I turn 50 so I am drawing a line. I have had a 4 year break from any carido. Started 2 weeks ago 5 day/week am fasted LISS cardio 30 min. Going to tighten up cals on my 22 hour fast days and bring up training intensity a touch. Going slow but steady and see what happens.

No anabolics outside being at normal levels. Just fasting, cardio and simple deficit. No more being a bi!ch for me.

If I fail....it is just because I did not want it bad enough....

Dude you've been one of my inspirations since I joined the O35 in Oct 2020.... a few months before MY 50th birthday. The crew here have helped keep me on track and excited to improve!
You are definitely NOT lazy, but if now is a good time to look at your goals and keep making positive change I say YES! Keep up the cardio bro!

I bought a rowing machine so I could add more cardio back in since I'm not riding to and from work like I used to (I need to get home so I can start lifting): need to find space to set it up so I can get at least a couple decent cardio sessions in a week.

EDIT: forgot to add yesterday's deadlift video.
Ended up with tempo lifts all week, which definitely hit different. Easy deads but the slow descent was still a good burn.

Tried to fix your video there

    You continue to deliver!

The rowing machine is a great idea, we have a C2 and its a great machine...rowing-winter, cycling-summer is a great rotation.
Please record my time/reps if I pass out
