Haven’t stopped in here for awhile. Everybody putting the work in. I’ve been trying to get few sessions in each week, yesterday was heavy barbell. Most of my exercise lately has been biking. My (nearly) 10yo daughter and I have been biking almost everyday (250 miles in September). She loves it, and the endorphin rush from it…. I can’t turn her down when she asks if we can go for a ride. Usually we do a 12-13 mile loop from the house to a bike trail then back. Weekends we’ve done some 16-20 mile rides. It’s been an awesome time. Maybe she’ll start lifting with me when it gets too cold for biking

Thought I'd drop a quick pic of my garage gym floor in the new house. They just finished the epoxy this afternoon. Pics don't do it justice as it looks so much better than the picture shows.
My gym equipment will be delivered Sunday. I'm going crazy without my home gym right now. Worked out well though as a few weeks before the move, I strained my shoulder pretty badly, so the time off will help.

Another good one, this was light day, 340 x 12 PR!
Man, these high reps are the best, look you can see my quad, starting to get a tree trunk there! 1 rep at a time, can't wait till I can do this with 80+ more, that's the goal. I feel so good after this.
Turn it up, it's great, and the name of the tune is called "Dog Breath" the original Motorhead was in this band! Not Motorhead, the Motorhead, before Motorhead!

Thanks, man!
Thanks, Jim. I cannot wait to get it set-up.
Long story, but Christina was living in Rosharon, Texas then sold her house and we moved to Missouri City, Texas into a rent house with a three car garage. That's when I bought all of my equipment. We were there for two years and decided to have a house built in Rosenberg, Texas. (These are all suburbs of Houston) The landlord decided to sell their house and we had to move about a month into construction, so we moved downtown near the University of Houston temporarily. Now we are in the new house.
Artist, yes, I'm already planning on building a portable deadlift platform and I'm fashioning some kind of design to put in the middle. I may start a thread to get some ideas from everyone.
I think the hardest part of the gym design is figuring out a way to keep the storage part of the garage separate from the equipment. Sounds silly, but I want it to be aesthetically pleasing and not to be looking at a bunch of junk boxes while I'm training.

Beautiful! We're all jealous
Good work L-Dub. Love to see progress.
Day 2 of my push to Worlds. Went for heavy bench doubles and FINALLY I'm starting to see progress here! I got 302 my first meet with almost no training, then 315 in the gym and 307 in my second meet but seemed to be stalled most of this year while I saw gains in my squat and deads... yesterday I doubled 285 twice, then 295 and it felt easy! Confident I'll get at least 315 in the comp if not 325... we'll see. I still have 3 more weeks to push that bench! I think that the main thing holding me back was the injury (I know I've talked about it a lot), which put all the work on my shoulders... I think finally my PT and massage therapy is working - my shoulders feel good and I may even be recruiting some chest and tricep growth. Definitely encouraging.
Thanks to my daughter for titling this video

Deads day went well, with incremental progressive overload. Two weeks ago my 495 double was very rough, yesterday it was butter! I'm posting that video; I did a 501.5 double after which wasn't as smooth due to me losing tightness and letting all the slack out of the bar but I did get the weight up both times.... which is pretty cool since it's the current WR for tested IPL in my age/weight category, and I'm a month out from that comp. There are higher WRs in other feds and the US record is also quite a bit higher but still it gives me a target to shoot for.

Got the gym all set-up yesterday. That was a workout in and of itself! Sorry for the low pic quality, I was in a bit of a hurry.
Guy we hired to hang our TV's hung the gym TV too low and by the time we realized it, he was done. We will likely have him come back out and raise it.
The far end of the gym by the water heater has tons of TV boxes that we are waiting for trash day. Also, my rubber flooring from the old gym--sold those this morning except for one that I will use for my deadlift platform.
The blue tape on the floor is the outline of the deadlift platform I'm building 4' x 8'. Wanted to see how much space it will take up.

BustaDude, u made it, bro. Now enjoy.
There's a solid joke aboot the TV guy and being hung low, but it's not in me tonight so you'll have to use your imagination. Or maybe not.
The rest of u are doing ok I suppose.
EDIT: and something I think would be useful to uze all.

Beautiful space!!! Enjoy!!
Good work!
Did heavy singles yesterday - this is the only one I recorded. 475 - weight actually moved well and I felt like I hit depth but looks like I was a little high - tough to tell from angle. Just gotta sink 'em. Hips shot out a bit too but got the weight.

Just some random comments
This morning: squat, bench, row, pull-ups
But I was running really late and after squat both flat benches were busy with guys just started who looked like they were settling in for the day, they also bench double me and weren't keen for me to work in. The decline bench is broken.
Rather than skip bench and do rows and pull-ups, I decided to try floor press (and skip rows due to no time and sore back). Just a lighter weight as I've never tried it before, no particular reason other than never got round to it. Wow!! It's more different than I expected, the first rep when I was tired on 4th and 5th sets (of 10 reps) was tough, but when I got moving the second rep had tension and was way easier, but despite it being what I thought would be too light, starting from no tension was a killer
Not sure how to best get the bar in position, if I ever got heavy it'd be hard on the wrists, or maybe with practice you work round that?
Seems a great compliment to pause bench, definitely I will do some floor press every now and again. Wish I'd done it before

You seen my floor press vids yes?
You can do them inside a free rack just set the pins above the chest.
Otherwise if you do them like I do, yes your wrists have to be strong, that’s one thing I got going for me. I’d recommend levering sledge hammers I’ll post a vid sometime. I haven’t done them in years but even after stopping I can still take a 12# hammer and lever it to my nose keeping my arm straight. Also not using straps on Dead’s builds great wrist power.

Good work Tom! Love to see you keeping at it!
Yesterday was an exciting day for me as I was able to double 308 on the bench twice, which is a first for me since my back injury 14 years ago! I truly thought I would not be able to make progress on this due to the nerve damage, but after plugging away at this for the past year in the weight room and doing PT/Chiro - I am finally seeing those weights climbing! Pretty stoked!

@phd. Congrats on the PR's. Nice work! Keep getting it.
Little distracted this week with car stuff, but got all my workouts in. Sometimes it is just 'paying the dues', but I know this game well. Most important thing for me is I dont skip workouts. Been 11 years. No matter what I get them in.
Just got done with a late night Fri 'bro' workout. Some flex friday pics. Keeping myself honest. And still slowly leaning (very slow). I have binged a lot lately, but still slowly leaning. I like eating too much

I have not ever missed workouts or eating since I came back to the gym 11 years ago, so I dont know?....
What I do know is I hold on to things pretty well. Even after being out of the gym a decade, I still benched 300 lbs first workout and squatted 405 (stupidly of course!). I was a runt starting out, but I have always held my size (somewhat) even when I did not train.
Being of the gym 10 years, I carried a good amount of fat, but most people looked at me like 'did you used to play ball?'. My waist was as wide as my shoulders, but I was an XL without a huge gut. But my waist was huge in my eyes.
This pic is going Waaay back to my initial 'comeback'. This was my first 30lb weight drop. The left pic being how I pretty much was +/- the 10 years prior. I was 205 ish in the left, and right pic was 180

Thanks! Keep it up!!
Thank you, and always an inspiration! I'm closing out year one, but feeling good and looking forward to the next decade
Do it Brother!!!
This week and next are my last workouts before worlds, so still focusing on heavy singles with some backdown work after.
Hit 485 yesterday and I think it's my first true 485 to depth. Lost stability and hips shot out a bit, but recovered and got the lift!

You guys keep killing it on here and it is one of the reason I am back in the gym (keep motivating!)
Yesterday was my first day back in the gym, I figured I need to wake my body up so I did, (extremely light so no need to mentioned the weights) in the below order
1. Squats 3 sets of 10 reps
2. Deadlifts 2 sets of 8 reps
3. Bento over rows 3 sets of 10 reps
4. OHP 3 sets of 10 reps
5. Flat bench 3 sets of 10 reps
I was a little off for some reason my balance was off on the bench and OHP not sure if it is because I was doing a lot of dumbbells' for so many months.
Anyway I am back, should be posting some videos soon. Sucks that I wont be able to train on Friday as I will be getting my 3rd session on my tat.On the list for Bannukah
