What does this mean? Why does person X who pays less tax than person Y get to accuse person Y of not paying their "fair share"?

Fair share is entirely subjective and clever phrasing.
If everyone is equal we would assume everyone paid the same amount in taxes. That is not the case.
We could also assume everyone would pay the same certain % in taxes. That is also not the case.
What we instead have is a system where the more you make the more you pay, both percentage wise and monetarily wise.
The rich get screwed when it comes to taxes.

Person X is a brainlet that does not understand basic finance. To them everyone should be stuck in the same chitty life as them because they make no effort and dont give a fuk about their life they expect everyone else should be required the same.
Agree with Bradford privatize it all, minimal taxes to protect the country's property and infrastructure. Social Security is the biggest fukkin scam (terrible returns srs) on earth but if it didnt exist the brainlets would have zero savings smhPosts are for fun, not to be taken seriously or as truth.

I think its a pretty complex equation with so many variables. As someone who pays relatively a lot in taxes per year....I used to be of the mind set that "everyone should just pay the same percentage, and if you make more you end up paying more but its the same percentage"
Now a days, I dont think it can be as simple as that. Reason being, there are people that are living right on the verge of poverty. You raise their taxes by .5 percent and they cant afford that next box of cheerios for Bobby.
Raise that on someone like me, yes that would suck, but I'll live.
I am ok with a progressive tax. What I am not ok with is paying into a inefficient / poorly managed system.
Id love it if my taxes went to improvements for all and my money were used efficiently as I use it.
Problem is, this is not the case.

I dunno man - you’re probably more well versed in this than I am. I’m just making broad statements without having looked into it. Maybe healthcare should be universal (moral debate about it being a human right) but couldn’t private contractors build the roads?
Also healthcare in Canada is pretty slow - like 8 hour wait times for emergency at the hospital. I think privatizing it would improve the quality of service. Plus insurance companies exist.

I really don’t look down on white collar crime like tax evasion unless you’re a rich wall street banker and steal from the working/middle/upper middle class srs.
If you’re embezzling from big corporations I even encourage it, like in office space.Sig can't be a novel crew

Abso-****ing-lutely.
Government handles those things so inefficiently its a mother fukin joke.
You really have no clue of the extent to which our government wastes our tax dollars do you? If you did, you wouldn't have made that comment.
Private can do all those things more efficiently and FAR cheaper.

If you believe that citizens should pay taxes (and that taxes arent theft), then, IMO, a flat tax rate is maybe more more , but I dont know what that rate should be. Not smart enough to know what it is. This way, not everyone pays the same amount of $$ but we all pay the same rate. Its kind of ridiculous to say that "You must pay 25% of your income because you make more while poor people pay only 5% because they are poor." That's how you encourage tax fraud and/or force the rich people out of the country.
Pro:
-No loop holes
-Cant contribute to charities to lessen your taxes
-Could possibly Eliminate most of tax law, IRS, Big Tax preparation companies like H&R block
Cons:
-Increases burdens on poverty level people. Currently, On like 50% of Citizens actually pay federal taxes so under flat taxes, people like single parents and whatnot would actually have to pay taxes rather than NOT pay or GET paid
-Would have to SPECIFICALLY allow deductions for hardships like single parents, families with special needs etc
Would work if you SPECIFICALLY eliminated loopholes, gov lobbying for deductions that help only the rich, exempt a certain people below a specified segment of the wage earning population“That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even death may die.” - The Nameless City by HP Lovecraft

I agree, I had a state job and the waste is amazing. The problem is that they do not want to save money. They are in a use it or lose it situation, so they will spend money without giving two chits just so they can get more. Plus the union protects all the loser waste that just sit around all day and do nothing. I swear you could get rid of at least 50% of the government work force and get the same result. This is just speaking from personal experience. Things could be different elsewhere.

Strong lmfao @ sanderscels and other Communist scum unironically making this argument.
Muh top 5% paid more than all other brackets combined.
Meanwhile top 1% of households contain precisely the same amount of overall wealth as 20 years ago.
Communist plebs want to argue that because the most wealthy man is 50x richer than he was 20 years ago that it is completely unimportnat that the average man is only 20x richer than he was 20 years ago.
Strong everything.

One time I had a summer job for my local municipality and they told me to slow down on working hard because I’d run out of work.
City workers are fuking hilarious. I remember there were these guys and they’d have a room where they watch tv and drink beers and be on call for like when a tree fell down and they had to go out and remove it from blocking the road. This was in the forestry department.
