    I hate running too. Only time I run is when I'm playing a sport. Winter cardio comes from low rest times in between sets.

    Jogged a portion of my 1.6 mile loop for the first time...chest hurt like fuk and both arms had a noticeable tingle.

    Absolutely love it, used to do 20km runs after work, had to take a break from it. I want to start running again but cant due to fukin covid and mandatory masks, and I can't imagine running with mask on.

    The point of cardio is to improve your ejection fraction and cardiac output (volume of blood that is pumped out of the heart with each contraction of the left ventricle (blood that goes TO the tissue)) so that you pump more blood per heart beat and require less beats over your lifetime. Your heart is essentially like a battery that has so many beats per lifetime. The better shape you are in, the more blood it pumps per beat and the less beats per day it needs to circulate blood.

    But if, as other miscers have stated, you get your cardio in the form of sports, then that is sufficient. But if you work a desk job, you probably need EXTRA activity to offset. Young age itself doesnt offset much at all anymore

    -Stand up
    -Lock your knees
    -Lean back slightly so that your heels are the only part of your feet touching the ground
    -Now jump up and down repeatedly but only land on one heel at a time
    -Repeat for however long you run in one session

    This isnt perfect, but it closely recreates the ballistic energy that your ankles, knees, hips and low back must absorb when you do slow speed/heel strike jogging. The alternative is HIIT style sprinting where you lean forward using the momentum of you falling forward to help yourself run faster but also, you dont let your heels touch the ground. Just the balls of your feet.

    That's exactly NOT how you run. Try watching some youtube vids on proper running technique.
