https://www.videogameschronicle.com/...r-is-thriving/“Single player is thriving,” Sony said in a presentation obtained by Vice, which shines some light on the platform holder’s ongoing commitment to story-based games.
However, research conducted by Sony also highlighted several issues its players encountered with single player games, findings which appear to have been influential in the creation of PlayStation 5’s new Activities feature.
Sony listed four key problems players reported experiencing:
Not knowing how long they need to achieve in-game goals
The amount of time it takes to locate solutions in online help videos
How to engage socially without encountering spoilers
Forgetting what they were doing the last time they played and struggling to re-engage
Sony says PS5’s Activities feature has been designed to “remove barriers to gameplay”. It enables users to jump straight into specific levels or challenges, suggests how long these will take to complete, and offers hints about how to progress when stuck, all without needing to leave the game. Activities lets users jump into specific challenges and see how long they’ll take. PlayStation boss Jim Ryan said in June 2019 that the company would never walk away from story-based first-party games.
“We’ve never had greater success with our own narrative-driven, story-based games than we’re having right now,” he told CNET. “We feel good about that, and it’s certainly not a genre of gaming we’ll ever walk away from.”
Titles in the God of War, Uncharted and The Last of Us series all shipped or sold more than 10 million units on PS4, something not achieved during the PS3 era, according to Sony. Horizon Zero Dawn has also sold over 10 million copies and Marvel’s Spider-Man has sold over 13 million units.
I gotta say I think the activities cards need work. The section seems cluttered and disorganized but I am finding myself starting to use them more and more and can appreciate what Sony is attempting.
Also great to hear their investment i to story driven SP games is going well and they will continue, but I think we already knew that.

Good to hear from them, part of the reason why I am hyped for GT7 which is when I plan to finally get a PS5. I know their main focus has been on story driven games lately but considering how Gran Turismo has been about nothing besides a multiplayer focus last gen with GT Sport seeing them go back to offering a deep single player experience is the kinda thing that I can get excited about. It tells me how they haven't forgotten about people like me with my interests.
Honestly I feel like the whole multiplayer scene is very divisive these days anyways. Like there is some people who are all about it getting together with a group of buddies online all the time, some people who are all about that competitive gaming e-sports scene, and then there's people who simply like to relax and play games by themselves in their free time. I always find myself in the latter, I find myself playing most of my games at night as I like to be more active/productive during the day and it's just something I like to do as an alternative to watching TV and movies and so on for home relaxation entertainment. I just like doing my own thing and enjoy not having to deal with other people or playing at their pace.

This is why I love Sony more anything else ..... Single Player experiences are the best experiences, cant stand the ADD autism crowd with their "wheres mah mp mode"
But Sony also has proved that they can mix MP and SP content with better focus, I know a lot of guys on here love TLOU MP which is again a mode that ND worked on after the SP content and became quite popular and more recently with Sucker Punch's MP mode for Ghost of Tsuchima, which was actually so much fun and I sank quite a lot of hours into it with my friends, and then even playing with randoms it was a pretty damn good experience because everyone was super chill, super nice and we were all just having a ton of fun playing with each other without it getting autistic or toxic like how most MP modes are.
GOT MP is something that Sony/Sucker Punch can definitely focus on and make it work given the potential and popularity it has, so they have their "games as a service" part covered on that front ... But for the most part, I think sony knows their strengths lie in SP experiences and that's what helps them retain their fanbase.
Like I mentioned in a previous thread .... People will always talk about Sony games or even Nintendo games .... But nobody remembers Microsoft games anymore.Sig line can't be a novel

As an Xbox-cel, Sony does have the better single player games. But for me, if I like a Single Player Game (RDR, BioShock, TES, Fallout, etc.) then I pretty much play the thing through completion once, then I'll play it on the hardest difficulty for the achievemnt/trophy, than I'll whore out the rest of the Achievements ASAP, then I'm done with the game. Once I beat everything a single player game has, then I just stop playing it because I have no desire to reexperience a story that I know the ending(s) of, and that's why I prefer multiplayer games, which is where Xbox shines.
I remember I got the Skyrim Remastered game and I was so pumped to play it again, and then like 5 minutes in I was like fukk there's so much crap you need to do for this game that I just don't feel like doing again, and I never played it again srs. First time I played it I think I pumped 120 hours into the game in like the first week and a half. I was bedridden with a staph infection on my foot so I couldn't move. I legit ate Oreo's and drank 2 liters of coke straight from the bottle for like 2 weeks as my foot healed up since I couldn't walk. That was the last time I ever really grinded a game, and I was LDAR'd out, that I've never done that again.*Mechanical Engineering Crew*

"Because the thing about repairing, maintaining, and cleaning is it’s not an adventure. There’s no way to do it so wrong you might die. It’s just work. And the bottom line is, some people are okay going to work, and some people … well, some people would rather die. Each of us gets to choose.”

Sorry bro but your Def living in la la land if you think Sony is getting mp right. Tlou mp best mp of any generation is a joke, sorry man. You can use whatever system you like to define good mp... But it never had any type of competition, stream support, etc. It was really never on anyone's radar unless you were a ps exclusive player only. The rest of the multiplayer shooter world did not even bat an eyelash at that games mp.
I'm sure it was fun for people who played it but you can't even compare it to the big boy mp games out now or even during that time.Sometimes I park in handicap spaces, while handicap people make handicap faces

Yeah, as I get older, the less desire I have to play multiplayer and the more desire I have to just chill out, play a great single-player and enjoy the graphics, gameplay, story and soundtrack. Just more relaxing nahmean.
I just get way into sometimes on multiplayer, especially if there is any sort of ranking/mmr system and I just want to chill out lol.
I haven't seen this activities system, seems intriguing but looks like it is just in the early stages so there are going to be a lot of problems with it initially which just may make people frustrated if anything.
I think the problems presented are things Sony can address and are worthwhile. Some phucking games are overly complex so brb gotta watch this 1.5 hour vid on youtube or you will mess things up. I think hints are helpful when stuck or when it is not obvious what to do. Not sure about anyone else but I was never really concerned with how long a particular quest or level takes. As long as I can resume at a certain spot an hour into it without doing the whole damn entire thing all over again.positivity brah crew

And the cope continues. Whatever you gotta tell yourself to be ok with being PC "Master Race". lmao
(But for the record. UC MP is total trash, and I wouldn't play it if it were the only game I had, but I'd still pick it over Anthem, Avengers, and Fortnite if someone gun to my head forced me to play one. And have no idea what MAG is)
Yea, really seemed like SP was dying. Some companies were even pulling the plug on half completed projects as they saw the MP microtransactions come in. Sony our Lord and savior.

I also played Pubg which you love, tarkov, basically every br cause I love brs. You are a ****in dork dude. I, made one thread about Anthem not working and you've grabbed onto that **** for like years now rofl it's weird af that you keep bringing it upSometimes I park in handicap spaces, while handicap people make handicap faces

He does the same chit with me all the time. It's like he takes note of everything people who feel differently from him say around here so he can continue to bring it up all the time out of context. He also seems to think about me all the time. It's really phuckin weird how he obsesses over people he has disagreements with.
