I think he doesn't even show up for the inauguration or turnover to Biden, and if anything holds his 2024 event on the same day. He might run again, but there is no way that they let Trump run again in 2024 tbh. I think he ends up running as an independent. I think in 2024 you'll have a much younger Democrat running whether it is Harris or someone else, and Trump would be an ill fitting candidate, because it will be Young vs. Old, and I think Republicans want a much younger candidate for the next election. I think if Harris ends up being the Democratic Nominee, you'll have Nikki Haley be the Republican Nominee. If you are a Republican, you really do not want Trump running since he would effectively split the Republican vote if he was to run, and almost ensure a Democratic President again in 2024. I also have to say that his current situation does not help his future one.

I agree with all of this.
Obviously as the President, he is the leader of the Republican Party, so there is no way they could have put someone else up for this (2020) election.
But I really wish they could have put someone else up.
Look at what he has caused now. There are republican legislatures telling republicans to not even vote in the Georgia runoff. That is 100% Trumps fault. He is shooting his own party in the foot.cVc (OIF and OEF): *Retired*

Trump has the Republicans in a real bind. If they refuse to nominate him, he very well could run solo and take his base with him. But I doubt very much candidate Trump in 2024 can win, or even do respectably, unless the Biden-Harris show is a complete disaster. The GOP would probably want anyone else as their candidate but they may not be able to.

i believe that president is playing 7D parcheesi right now. He is putting up a fight because he wants to get us all pumped for 2024. He knows that the next 4 years could be very rocky if the economy goes into a recession because of corona. so why not let the dems take all the hits. he can chill out and play golf for four 4 years, go on a bicycle or two, hit the weights, build some srs mass, get shredded and then start hitting the campaign trail in early 2023. build your donations, build your base up with rallys, tell them to stand back and stand by, whoop everyone's ass in the republican primaries and then completely demolish the dems in 2024. think about it he is a genius and we are all witnesses.

I have to say though his supporters are probably some of the most hardcore supporters in all of politics, so you know that they'll vote for him again regardless. People honestly like his style of politics which is being brash and "unpresidential". But other facets of the Republican Party (probably the majority) will vote for someone else in 2024, only because you really only ever vote for the incumbent for your party. In modern politics, if you lose an election you're pretty much over. Only one president has ever run again and won after losing and that was Grover Cleveland. With social media and news being far reaching nowadays, he's pretty much finished. He'll also be 78 when he runs and again having a 78 year old ex-president who was voted out against a potentially 60 year old Harris won't look good. Next president has to be in the 50-60 year old range imo.
I can't help but to think too that his open beratement of Georgia might not fare the Republican Party well in the run-off election. If both Democrats do win, you can pretty much put the blame solely on Trump at that point. He will have burned every bridge he ever built on his way out, which is honestly how I saw this scenario turning out. I guess we'll wait and see what transpires over these next few weeks.*Mechanical Engineering Crew*
