Gov. Phil Murphy said Sunday a statewide shutdown to stop the spread of the coronavirus is still “on the table” as he warned New Jerseyans are ”in the fight of our lives” over the next three months.
The governor, speaking on Fox News Sunday, said a shutdown similar to the unprecedented moves he made in March and April, when the state was hit by the first wave of the pandemic, would be a last resort and that he doesn’t “anticipate it” happening.
But, Murphy warned, it could come down to it if cases continue to surge.
“It has to stay on the table,” Murphy said, adding, “God willing, we won’t have to.”
“The great news is there’s light at the end of the tunnel (with) vaccines in particular, but for the next two or three months, we’re in the fight of our lives,” he said.

Lol he's an idiot, brb lets try the same thing we did before, it didn't work and did more harm than good but hey at least he got to sate his ego and get drunk on power. No one can even define what a case is and the policies being made are based on legitimate false information for 90% of it. People won't follow it because they know the damage it causes and how much BS went on the first time "just 2 more weeks herp derp"

This. My state was shut down completely (aside from big box chains) for a month when the Covid freakouts first started. Then it was re-opening stuff in late May - early June, but with heavy restrictions on capacity/social distancing/"covid readiness plan". By June a lot of businesses/employers/local municipalities were requiring face covering use, which became a state mandate in July the governor has said will be one of the last things he lets go of.
While things did open back up, we still had a lot of restrictions the entire time this has been going on. Then about a week ago the govenor shut us back down almost back to square one again until close to Christmas. People aren't supposed to visit anyone outside of their immediate household whatsoever unless it's for work or buying essential goods. I have no doubt he keeps extending the lockdowns into 2021, and wouldn't be surprised if it has to get to spring before we are mostly re-opened again - or at least whatever there is left to re-open in the first place.
Yet they say covid just keeps getting worse, and the healthcare system is on the verge of having serious issues. Seems to me that all these restrictions did a lot more to destroy the economy than they did to help actually mitigate the spread of covid. Masks are probably here to stay until at least the end of 2021, and I assume it will conveniently be extended at least into the spring of 2022 with winter being a convenient excuse to continue enforcing masks "just in case", and "for the flu and colds too, now!!!".
The entire thing is just ridiculous. Some libs I know who are the most pro-lockdowns/restrictions have done some of the riskiest behaviors since this started, like having weddings of 50+ people, going to house drinking parties, hanging out with friends almost as much as they did before covid, etc. Also of note, most pro-lockdown people I've seen are in fairly secure relationships/family unit situations where they at least get that social interaction guaranteed to them on a regular basis. IMO it's incredibly easy and selfish to tell single people who need to get themselves out into the world to socialize to isolate at home for months on end while doing nothing fun socially/not even seeing peoples' faces in public when you can pretend things are fairly normal for yourself at home.

Normally I would say this is a legitimate & logical statement.... However it seems as if every body and their step mom is looking for 15m of fame these days which leads to some of these "scientists" to say outrageous illogical BS... because fame... and science
Which leads me to my next issue...who do you trust? There is so much contradicting data being pushed down your throat surrounding this over hyped flu. I have found that a lot of people simply seek out the "science" that aligns with their beliefs.
All I do know is a survival rate of over 99% seems to be a common theme amongst the entire scientific community which makes any mandates and lockdowns flat out fkng dumb. Especially when there is more than enough hard data at this point to prove they didnt work as intended the first time around... So lets do the same dumb $hit hoping for a different result this time??6'2" @ 247lbs
