Honestly, that's what I call a cool story bro. Such a riveting tale, I honestly copy and pasted it to word, saved on my hard drive, backed it up on a jump drive, drove to the bank, put the jump drive in the safe deposit box, and will leave it there until my kids turn about 12 (when they can actually state their age, and ask what it is I'm showing them), when I will pick it up, put it in an old USB drive reader and relay this cool story to them and tell them, "kids, this is what a cool story should look and sound like... not like the stories your generation tells."

I grew up listening to Zep, Sabbath, Motor Head, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and stuff like that.
I just thought they were doing a parody of heavy metal.

However "Metallica" is not metal at all. They are emo trying to hid under the umbrella of metal.
I've never heard one Metallica song that is not derivative of the other bands I mentioned.

The problem is that Metalifail was the first metal you probably heard. When I grew up there was no Metallica. Just real metal. So by the time they came along it was a joke. There was nothing interesting or original about them.

Oh, and Led Zeppelin was one of the founders of Heavy Metal and they have easily out sold Smelltalica. AC DC has out sold Metallica.

Point taken. Some of the most talented people in the world are unknown because they never found commercial success. But being the best selling is pretty significant. That means that more people like Metallica than all the other bands you listed.

"Best" is totally subjective. But sales ($) isn't.

Metallica are definitely overrated but they were the band that broke out of the 80s Bay area thrash scene and became the poster children of that style. Their earlier albums are definitely good. And justice for all was a bit self-indulgent but an interesting record nonetheless. I just find it really disappointing and sad that they literally have not produced anything worthwhile in 3 decades. When you find something that works and can make millions, why change what works? They most likely would have continued writing quality records had they not become so famous and wealthy. At least they would have continued to be hungry.

Megadeth are currently wrapping up a new album. I can't wait to hear that one.

Not really. Zep has a bigger fan base than Metallica. AC DC has a bigger fan base. Most of the bands I listed would have a much bigger fan base than Metallica if they listened to them. My 17 year old for instance. I don't really try to instill my musical taste in him at all. (Except Wesley Willis). He has heard plenty of Metallica and could care less. His favorite bands are Zeppelin, Maiden, Def Lepard, and for some reason old Sea Shantys. These are the bands he and his friends play on Discord. Metallica not even once.
