You all need to realize:
>Certain mods have banned 60% of users over the last decade, any time you open an older thread half the commenters are banned. They're literally the reason the site is dead
>The misc averages 600-1200 viewers per day, but only about 200 ever make comments.
After I recently got camped for saying "all lives matter" and was told "it's racism", I almost didn't come back after 8 weeks either.

On reddit there are certain subsections that allow you to talk about things.....illegal things....which are deemed the backbone to weightlifting and athletics. Anyone serious about sports conditioning and lifting goes "there" for tips and advice and to converse with like minded people.
The name "bodybuilding.com" is in name only these forums haven't been about lifting in years.
eh, not really.
I don't remember it ever functioning to the capacity it was intended. Its always felt like a cheaply slapped together gimmick in a piss poor attempt to compete with ******** that never quite got off the ground because they realized they bit off more than they could chew, and now its dead in the water.

LOL hell no.
I use to be that guy spending $300/month on supplements. i'm glad I grew out of that phase. The few supplements I still buy (fish oil, zinc and vitamin C/D) I buy from amazon at fraction of the cost to what bb.com charges.
You can't compete with amazon. Noone can.
I truly have no idea (even after this damn pandemic) how brick and mortar GNC's still exist. Sky high prices, pathetic inventory of choices, and pushy sales people is a dying business model in 2020.

All non-Reddit forums aren't seeing growth, and a couple mods banned the chit out of regulars starting after ER time. I remember in 2015, having to open every interesting thread on the front page in a separate tab, cause if you didn't then a mod would delete it 2 minutes later.
Guarantee you that LM would have been banned for panty sniffing vids if posted them here in 2017, for example.FA Crew

Interesting comparison. Is there a correlation?

This topic comes up over and over again
It's nothing relating to this site specifically. It's that internet forums, in general, are not as big as they once were.
Back in 2005-2006, I used to frequent several message boards relating to sports, music, movies etc.. Today, a lot of those message boards are gone (and they were basically inactive for a while before shutting down)
More people are opting for social media, like Twitter, Insta, ********.

I'll keep posting even if I'm the last one here. I forget stuff or when things happened. Don't have IG, FB or any of that. My friends and family don't care about the stuff I talk about so this is the only place where my ideas go. I feel like I have all this information that can help people and I'll regret it on my deathbed if I kept it to myself all these years

Nah this forum has a high retention rate. Look at all the post count. Sure we have low growth but the members we do hook in stay for a long time. There's a reason for that.
All it needs is faster growth with gen z. Any suggestion on what gen z want? Maybe hire some models lol to start posting.
Also misc politics forum is alive and well. Also this site name itself is worth alot of $$$$$. And other so called bodybuildibg websites would dream to have this name. If this goes down they also go downLast edited by Random260; 11-26-2020 at 03:47 AM.

Are you retarded, or what? You literally said you've been gone for years before briefly stopping by to check it out. You must have some idea of why people find the place not worthwhile these days.
The misc will eventually go offline, that's obvious. That's because internet forums are a relic of the past. They've been a dying platform since the late 2000's when social media, namely ******** at the time, started taking off into the mainstream. Then things really started going to hell when smart mobile devices went mainstream ~2010, and the establishment of other social media platforms like instagram/twitter/snapchat was the final blow to any steam places like the misc had left.
Reddit is able to survive and do well for the very reason why many miscers (myself included) rip on it so hard - the chitty layout. Their layout is absolutely awful, and not continuative to any sort of real, open discussion. It is set up to enable the obsession most people have with short, cheap answers/posts, much like what is encouraged by social media sites. Plus, they censor the hell out of everything, which is what most dumbassses like. If not outright censored, they falsely claim they have mostly open/free speech and just have everything the cesspool users don't like drowned out via train downvoting that hides what they don't want to hear.
That's why the rep system on the misc really isn't so bad. 99% of the time, reds and people with chit tier post count to rep ratios really are crappy posters. Most of the time, older join dates give some indication that a poster might have something useful to say, because most people who suck either leave or get banned before their accounts age at all.
But that's not how the majority of people feel about posting online. They want their safe space circle jerk sessions. If you don't like it, then quit hanging around dumps like that so much and spend more of your online time on places like the misc. Misc isn't going down until the entire bodybuilding site as a whole goes down, though. They spend virtually zero money operating the boards. Ironically, the site would do better if they embraced the misc like they used to. Imagine if you'd occasionally get a cheeky note from some miscer included in your supplement orders that you'd obviously never get buying them elsewhere. It would make buying from here unique and interesting. I'm surprised they've lasted as long as they have since abandoning the community aspect of it and still charging basically the highest prices you can find.

Reddit is kinda replacing forums. It is a bit soy, you'll get banned on some subs for the most random stuff but at least it's anonymous and kind of has the old school forum feel. The upvote/downvote system has its issues.
I'll never use ********/instagram/snapshat/tiktok or whatever zoomers use nowadays.Last edited by iOse; 11-26-2020 at 05:27 AM.

All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Some might say the reasons are:
1. Forum layout. Looks straight off 2006 here.
2. Age:49
3. No notification system. If people knew when they were being quoted, it would further discussion. If I don't visit for 2 days, only way for me to find out if I was quoted or not to go back and visit that thread.
4. No dark mode.
KTT2 is an example of what a modern forum should be like. Shame Misc is like this because it's probably the only place where sanity is present in the internet.
But ask Reddit and they will tell you Misc is dying because of:
1. Progressiveness! Nobody is racist, bigoted, homophobic, xenophobic like that anymore. We are building a better world with our black kings and queens taking charge.
2. Site is full of incels. "Incels" has been replaced with simps(same condition but they are more ckuked). Take a look at any reddit celebrity subreddits to see what reddit incels look like. If you say any bad thing about a celebrity(not even bad just say something not complimenting), you will receive the downvotes and fury of white knights.
Ultimately, it sucks this site is losing traffic. But both forums lack of maintenance and current 2020 clown world and new-gen are responsible for it. Don't know if there is any other replacement for it. If anyone does let me know.
