    Scale Weight Not Moving

A little back story..... I took about 3 months off from working out ate like crap, partaked in some adult beverages and got out of shape, not drastically out of shape but I can notice. I just started back up working out and get my nutrition back on point, I know the workout routine to do that gives me the best results and got my nutrition dialed in before I took the 3 months off I have been hitting the gym regularly for 5 years (see Avatar).

My problem now is the scale is not budging at all, if I had to guess this is probably some of the fat is turning into muscle so the scale is not moving, like a body-recomp. From things I have read it's muscle memory and it's faster to get back in the shape you were in before you took time off.

How long have you been dieting, at how many calories?

If you have at least 2 weeks worth of daily weigh-in readings, I can check them for a trend.

I know that, I didn’t think people would take it literally but again I forgot people on this forum like to try and correct people all the time.

What I meant by fat turning into muscle is I’m losing fat and gaining muscle.

If you're not going to contribute just keep moving on.

I didn't say that because I purely want to correct you for heck of it, I was trying to be helpful. PLENTY of people still believe you can 'turn fat into muscle'... and those who know better never use that phrase... so, that is what I said that.

    3 weeks.

I haven't been charting it on a daily basis like I used to but I do know the scale has been 203 basically every time.

    options:

    a) you're regaining muscle at a crazy rate

    b) your maintenance is actually lower

    c) your intake is actually higher

    Hmm.

Well, in three weeks if you're measuring average changes, I would expect a LITTLE bit of scale drop, but it's possible some glycogen + water retention is cancelling that out.

Do you have an idea of how much fat you might have put on in terms of pounds, etc? How much total weight did you actually gain during your time off?

What is the mirror telling you? Are you LOOKING leaner but more full in terms of muscle mass?

It sounds like your maintenance is not that high.

You can easily adapt by around 200 cals or so when trying to diet. And there can be an inflammation effect if you've just resumed training after a layoff which can add a lb or two. But not enough to compensate for 3 weeks at -500 calories...

Man I can't really put a number on how much fat I gained and muscle I lost, I can say I woke up one morning and looked in the mirror and went Holy S**t. When I first started back working out again I was a lot weaker than I was before but the weights have been moving up on the bar really good.

I do know that my pants felt a little looser the other day.
