Powertec be sending me free equipment...

So I had pre-ordered a Powertec Workbench Multipress back in like August, and it arrived in September.

So naturally I was surprised when I got an e-mail from Powertec a week ago saying that "my order is on the way". And lo and behold a few days later another Powertec Workbench Multipress shows up on my doorstep.

Clearly something got screwed up in their system. However, according to this article:

    https://lifehacker.com/you-re-allowe...rs%20to%20keep.

this thing is mine to keep. Sure, there may be some ethical issues there, but this thing is huge (inb4 that's what she said) and it came in two giant boxes. Trying to send it back would definitely involve me going out of my way.

What would y'all do? Should I call Powertec and tell them to come get their chit? Or should I stick it on on Facebook Marketplace?

If you have to ask if something is ethical, then you already know the answer

I'd call Powertec and leave it up to them, if they tell you to go ahead and keep it then your conscious is clear when you pocket the cash.

What he said. I think it would be a dick move to not notify them of the mistake. And that said, if they want it back they can arrange for a shipper to pick it up at your house. I wouldn't go out of my way to deal with returning it.

I think the above comments sum it up pretty well. And who knows, Powertec may decide that it isn't worth their time/money to schedule a truck to come out and pick that thing up again.

Return the one you bought for a full refund, minus shipping and whatever restocking fee they charge and keep the free one. Unless you can sell it on Market Place for at least the same cost. I hate dealing with people though so I'd just return the one I bought.

Do the right thing and notify Powertec. If they want it back tell them they have to arrange for a shipping company to pick it up from your doorstep as you shouldn't have to go out of your way for their mistake. I've done this before with other companies and sometimes I'm told to keep it and others had UPS just come and get it. I wouldn't be able to handle the guilt from just keeping it myself.

It's better than the machine I replaced it with. I previously had the chest press machine from Titan Fitness. That was a decent machine, except I felt the handles were too far apart. This aggravated my shoulder, which has a torn rotator cuff.

I'd say the Powertec has the exact opposite problem: the handles are a little too close together. But this is better for my shoulder than being too far apart.

Also, the decline capability of the Titan is actually nonexistent. I mean, the bench can decline but you can't adjust the handles to go down far enough. On the Powertec, you can actually do a decline chest press.

You can also position the seat of the Powertec almost 90 degrees so you can do a seated machine military press. Apparently you can also set up the Powertec to do a chest supported row as well. I haven't t tried that yet as I already have a chest support T-bar row.

Build quality of the Powertec is also way better than the Titan. But that's kind of to be expected since it also costs twice as much.

TBH, for something thats less than $1000, the Powertec is just ok. I'm not overly thrilled with it but its better than other offerings in this price range. And it allows me to train around my injuries with a reasonable amount of intensity.

Actually, I think Valor Fitness makes a chest press machine in the same price range. That machine might potentially be better than both the Powertec and the Titan since the handles converge together at the top. But I've heard a lot of unsavory things about Valor Fitness and just looking at the design of the their machine kind of makes me think I'd just be disappointed.

Powertec screwed me when I had a problem with their FT. They ran me around for weeks (videos, photos, do this, do that) and ultimately promised to replace it after the retailer blew me and them off, which renewed my faith in Powertec. However, a day later they reneged and said I would be dealing with the retailer from then on. If Powertec sent me extra goods now, I'd consider it payment well deserved for the yearlong saga that ensued before my bank clawed my money back.

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?
