I have an old YJ with a 4.0 and love it
There is a limitless supply of replacement parts and mods along with a zillion youtube vids for any imaginable issue or repair
For older jeeps the 4.0 is the most coveted motor here in the states easily
In the end tho they are Jeeps and you will no doubt spend some time getting wrenches intimate with it
Really frame and/or body rust is the only major deal breaker for Jeeps in the US so look it over good for thatNascar American

Had a 2001 with 4.0. It was 2wd, but had no real problem with the winters in Kansas City. Every year would throw 300-400lbs of sandbags in the back and ride. Never left me stranded.
I bought it in 2008 for $500 with a blown motor.......the guy selling it's daughters drove 85 miles home with a coolant leak and basically melted it down, but it made it. Swapped the engine and drove it for a little over 8 years. Only real problem was a leaky valve cover gasket changed it 3 times and just always leaked. Headliner fell too, but that was an easy fix. The rear sagged a bit, but that would have been an easy fix if I wanted to mess with it. Pulled 2 jetskis, no problem, would slide around in the rain if you wanted. At 6'6" It was a bit of a tight fit, but I loved it. I sold it to a guy I used to work with for $2,700 in 2017 and he's still driving it today.
