Are you celebrating Thanksgiving this year?

I know its kind of uncool these days to celebrate Thanksgiving thanks to virtue signallers. Plus with lockdown orders in many places i know you are supposed to keep it down from previous years. In my state the governor has mandated that nobody but him and his friends can group up more than 10 people and no more than 3 groups. Me personally going to just have traditional turkey with trimmings but only with about 8 of us family. I personally plan on full turkey coma for at least 2-3 days. Working out for max gainz. Curious what other people’s plans are this year.

Most of the family is still meeting for Thanksgiving and has plans to link together for Christmas. Not gonna count calories on either holiday obviously

Yeah, we'll be celebrating with my family in the morning and the hubby's in the evening. Just close family, though, although that's pretty standard, so this year won't really be any different than usual.

    Sadly I can't...

Usually my extended family gathers in a big group, but no one is flying in this year.

My immediately family are either working (Dad is a ER doctor) or they're out of town and high risk...

So, i'm probably just eating a whole pie by myself =o)

Smaller than usual, but still gathering.

And all out-of-towners not able to drive aren't flying in. So a little bit of a crowd difference, but we're trying to keep everything as "normal" as possible while still being responsible.

Edit: And yes, I plan on just eating everything in front of me and then some until I pass out on the lunch table.

    Squats then turkey.

We're just doing family in our house, no relatives that don't live here. That's what our governor has been saying for weeks. Usually go to my sister's house but we all agreed it would be best to hold off, follow the "rules". Had a few close calls, wife got exposed a week ago. Instructor and 1 student in her class at clinicals got it at the hospital that day.

Going to the in-laws for a food to go Thanksgiving. Our state, like many others has a huge uptick in Covid cases. Oregon is currently restricting it to no more than 6 people from 2 households.

They live about 1.5 hours away so we're planning on taking the RV and having a desolate day trip/Thanksgiving somewhere. Better to be safe than sorry imo.

Also, is anyone ACTUALLY planning on doing a Zoom Thanksgiving dinner? Lol @ that.

Well depends on what flavors they have? Now personally I love a good apple pie. The little mountain town place I go snowboarding has a little diner known for their pies. One time I went and they were out of apple so tried the blueberry and it was amazing. Also a good pecan pie can be delicious as well as the chocolate pecan pie. It maybe just me, as I get nostalgia from when my mom used to serve those Sara Lee pies after dinner as a kid, but I also love a good banana creme pie or coconut cream pie(inb4 cream pie jokes). In warmer months I like a good key lime or lemon meringue pie. Neve been a fan of strawberry rhubarb. But a bakery near me that closed used to have some good fruit and berry pies, one of their best was a “razzleberry pie”, mix of berries and maybe apple? IDK, for Thanksgiving i would go one of the pecan pies or apple, maybe a cran-apple if they have.

    Say no to zoom thanksgivings.

I’m actually probably just making a crazy feast of cornbread stuffing, salmon, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, and carrot cake for dessert or something...

I never go out of my way to make food fancy, so it’ll be a good time.

That, or I’ll just eat my weight in sushi and also eat carrot cake, hah!

Any excuse to spend $50 on a meal ;-)

I’ll probably wait until Friday so I can watch Mandalorian and Great British Baking Show (don’t judge me)

I watch those 2 shows also. I was thinking for Christmas of making one of those chocolate globes with the heated saice things. Looked cool. So many cool things they do but I can never remember the names of them.

Do you do the canned onions on the green beans? Man those are grindin.

Oh and instead of sweet potato casserole i was going to try this thing I saw where it was a hasselback sweet potato with marshmallow fluff,
Looked like a fun way to mix things up, check it:

I'm going to celebrate Thanksgiving this year, but it will be very different from what it was last year.
I have always celebrated this holiday with my big family. This year I will celebrate only with my parents. The brother and his family will not come because he lives on the other side of the country and he does not want to risk their health. Uncle and aunt with their families will not come to visit us either, they decided to stay at home.
So this year instead of 13, there will be only 4 of us: me, mom, dad, and my dog.
It's sad, of course, but I understand that these are forced circumstances
I hope that next year we will celebrate Thanksgiving with a big family again.
