Everytime you lock those electric locks with that silly button, you put the keys in your pocket and the silly button unlocks your doors. Then your car gets robbed and the democrats will say it's all your fault cause you didn't lock your door!

I never take my keys out of my pocket for my truck to unlock, start, drive, or lock it, so I haven’t into that problem yet. It just “senses” me I guess. I am planning to buy a team of oxen to pull it; just in case something ever happens to the engine. I’m not having robots work on it, gotta draw the line somewhere.

your overdoing it with the oxen, it's not fuking hard to manually lock unlock a door, or roll down a window.

I didn’t say how many were going to be in the team. I think two could do it and I wasn’t going to get more than four.

It would be hard for me to manually roll down my window, probably need to have robots remove the door panel at least.

Do you really think electric windows are good? I've had all 4 motors replaced in mine, makes no fuking sense dude, thats why I pre-order now. each one is several hundred dallor job.

And when those motors go, they send the window down, so your fuked if it rains.

I'd rather tip someone 100%, you know you never get tips from the guy in a nice car, you usually get the good tips from the guy in the old beat up Chevy with plywood as a tail gate with spray paint saying "Ford" and manual locks and windows.

This was edited, I wonder if Pockets will catch the punch line here.

No, it's really not feasible to daily a vehicle that old, unless you don't mind driving around a junker, buying new is good, it's just the techie stuff is useless features that cost money, the engines are good and last longer for sure, but even buying a new car with an older style but new engine is better than all the tech, like say a new car with a new engine with 1970's technology.

Any old "style" engine should handle million miles with proper maintenance

I've changed a bunch of window regulators, the part is maybe $80, clips maybe $5, takes about an hour on most cars, not a big deal if you have tools and access to Youtube.

Did you see the 21 year old Lady I bought for my Daughter? Her previous one was 26 years old, I thought that one was almost as swell. She's got a little Motorhead streak like her Pop.

Seriously? Had not heard about that. Their credibility doesn’t seem to be a factor in their decision making process. If they really “cared” they would try to allocate vaccine to people who have not been diagnosed with covid previously in the younger age groups before people who have had it. That would have more impact on reaching herd immunity faster. It’s almost as if they enjoy this and want to play longer.

So the new engines are better but not as good as old stylish engines. I’ve always thought mopar Tri-power was pretty stylish. Something about that row of carburetors that have to be synchronized just looks stylish, reliable and fun.

The CDC is recommending getting vaccinated immediately after recovering from the virus. I have to wonder what is up with that?
They're also saying it's only effective for 9 months.

There has been plenty of virus juice available to anyone who wants it where I am now for weeks, so I assume that's the case for the majority of the US at this point. Allocation priority is no longer a thing, unless I am missing something.

Any old "style" engine should handle million miles with proper maintenance
I'd take an old engine in a new tech car any day provided the old engine was fuel injected instead of carb. The ease of maintaince and repair on the old engines why I like them. Newer cars are loaded w/sensors and other stuff all jammed into the bay and while its nice to plug in an OBD to help find the issues, the old engines were pretty easy to self diagnose.

Yup. Thats the way to do it. From the pic it looked to be in good shape.

I'm already in the planning stage for my oldest first car. Shes 11 I picked up a 2010 Honda Element I'm in the process of bringing up to snuff so I can daily that and give it to her in 6 years. I'm trying to get both interested when I'm wrenching on things so they can do the basics themselves. So far though...

This may have been posted before, but I didn't go way back looking for it...

Study finds COVID variant affects vaccinated individuals more than unvaccinated

If you've been vaccinated and are exposed to the South African variant, you are almost 8 times as likely to get infected than if you have NOT been vaccinated.

    https://denvergazette.com/wex/study-...91063d69e.html

How long before all of those social posts of people holding their vaccine cards are deleted as it identifies you as being MORE LIKELY to be sick and infect others? ;-)

I drove somebody down to get their shot (in a rougher area/neighborhood) yesterday and they offered me one while I was there (even though I didn't have an appointment)--so said what the hell? Got one of the Pfizer shots down.

8 people caught the South African variant within the first 14 days of having their first Pfizer vaccine dose. None that had 2 doses of Pfizer caught it. I know nothing about vaccines but I assume it takes time to build up antibodies with the vaccine, this doesn't seem like a big deal.

Interesting and definitely something that should be studied further but let's not ignore it's a study with an small sample size that has not been peer reviewed.

Really? That's what the fuss is about? I must have missed those details. Anti vaxers looking so hard for something that it weakens their case.

Convenient that a thin Israeli study on the Pfizer vaccine is released as they are in the midst of a controversy about not paying for the vaccines and Pfizer threatening to halt shipments.

ETA. There are conflicting articles on what the study claims. None link to the study.

I would say someone who is grasping at what seems like pretty poor data to make a case why not to get a vaccine as anti-vax. Would you disagree?
