Light/lamp for rack area?

My rack area is pretty dark and it's annoying. Any ideas for a good lighting solution I could attach to the rack. Rack is 3x3 and top mounting would be best. I don't mind running an extension cord up the side. I'm not wiring another light in my ceiling, which is obviously the best solution. Freestanding lamps outside the rack won't work very well.

That depends on how much light you want/need. LED strip lights could be mounted right on the rack, but they're more for ******t lighting than useful illumination. An LED shop light can be mounted anywhere and they can be linked as well. Heck, you could use a clip-on light at the top of the rack if you wanted to. It all depends on what your goal is and what your setup looks like. For my basement gym I just replaced all of the lightbulbs in the gym area with better LED bulbs and that solved all of my issues.

This. I have a Philips Hue household, so I have one of their lights in the center of the room, but that leaves a lot of shadows throughout the gym. I then ran Hue LED light strips behind one roll-down blind and up the back of the functional trainer (could just as easily have been a rack) to create an indirect light source. It’s fantastically, well, functional, and it gets fun when I start playing with the colors as well. ;-)

Wouldn’t change anything about it.

I've got a couple of LED flush mount shop lights in my garage gym. They plug into outlets and can be daisy chained together. Puts out a lot of light and the profile is very thin. Light weight, doesn't even need to be mounted into studs.

I did similar in my basement, added a bunch of ceiling outlets and and a couple of wall switches, then bought a bunch of plug-in LED shop lights. More light and more outlets available (only had 3 in the whole back half of the basement) killed two birds.

I use the Florissant type shop lights that are about three feet long with two tube bulbs.
These bulbs last a long time,are low energy using and give good light.

If you have a nearby lightbulb you can replace with that and then aim it towards the rack it may do the trick.

I'm working on mounting some lights to my new squat rack right now but I haven't totally figured it out yet. It's hard to make lights blend into the rack, so it doesn't look added on or tacky.

I DO have three 40"x27" framed posters mounted on my walls to help light the place up and create some atmosphere for lifting, and they do the job well. I used to power them off grid in case the power went out during training (yes I'm scared of power outages and earthquakes when training!!!). With these 3 posters, I don't even need to use the house lights to light the room.

I now use 2 of these simple battery powered lanterns in case of a blackout due to ease (I hate going outside in the cold to plug in the off grid lights before training):
