in the time it takes for a bruise to heal most people can't add significant weight to their deadlift.

You sure could. Most deadlifting depends on body type/leverages. You could absolutely have a nice deadlift without "deadlifting."

Give the body some good recovery time and then go back at it and start training serious again.

RDL would be your best bet. You’d be surprised how heavy you can go with nearly perfect carryover to DL in my opinion.

You still have to DL fo form and to get your body conditioned to the 100-150 pounds more that you’ll DL though (probably more like 200 cuz you shouldnt 1 rep max your Romanian DL).

Around 4:10 I think there is a video of him doing a 700lb deficit rdl

Bill Starr pulled 666 @ 198 despite rarely deadlifting in his training. He has a popular "no deadlift" routine that many people have used before. Power cleans, heavy shrugs, high pulls, and good mornings were what carried over the most so he trained those instead.

Good mornings of all kinds are great. I prefer seated, like Konstantinovs used to do.
At about 2 minutes if time stamp doesn't work.
