I'm not a 'social butterfly' douche so I save lots of money by avoiding those situations.
Dont have a gym membership. I exercise at home and/or the park.
Service my owns cars.
Do house maintenance myself, haven't had a tradie at my place for 5 years.

Looking for some other ideas. The expenses keep adding up, it's freaking ridiculous.

Cut cable or satellite if you have it. Go with streaming internet for your television if you can. The only ISP where I live is Cox, and you have to have their cable first before you can get internet.

Change your insurance policies so that you have a higher deductible. That will lower your premiums.

Buy bulk food and cook enough for a week. I can get 10 lbs of chicken leg quarters for $4.90 plus tax. Marinate and cook them all at once. I can eat 2 quarters a day.

Cut your own hair.

Shave every 3rd day to extend the life of razors, or grow a beard.

If you have an electric hot water tank, get a timer that shuts is off for the extended periods of time you don't need hot water (work, sleep). Don't buy an on-demand hot water heater. I've bought 3 and no tenant liked them.

Hunt or fish for your food. No wait, never mind. Duck meat ends up costing $30+ a pound.

Didn't do a landline when we first moved into our house in 2007. Those were still common back then. But yeah, DIY as much as possible. In 13 years the only thing we've paid someone to do is windows and oil furnace. The oil furnace actually ended up fixing myself in the long run.

Doing repairs, installs, and improvements by yourself saves at least $1,000 every single time.

Also, cut cable about a year ago. Don’t miss it at all.

Dispute your property taxes every year.

Rent a room out to a friend
