    Remote Starter

I went to a local truck shop and stopped at Best Buy as well. The winters here can be brutal so I am looking to get a remote starter for my vehicle.

The local truck shop has a guy who specializes in installing remote starters but he was not in for that day. The guy who was there took my name and number and said his guy would call me back which he never did.

Best Buy recommended getting a Compustar remote starter with the t-harness. He went on to say that I could get a one-way starter since I will be able to see if the vehicle starts up (save some cash).

Neither place seemed to know if their models would start rear defrost or if I would have to turn the car off and back on to start it up. The latter is not desirable. Anyone here have experience with a brand and those features?

    What kind of vehicle?

Most every vehicle will have to restart since most kits are tied into the brakes, which you will have to press in order to turn the key or push button start.

I run a Viper Smart Start on my truck since I like being able to use my phone to start / lock / unlock with no range limitation, or lock my keys in the rig if I want to.

Best Buy refused to install a remote starter saying my vehicle was too new.

    Hey Papi
I have a 2018 Kia Sportage GTI...the dealer told me the warranty wouldn't be covered for electrical related problems unless I bought a KIA remote.
    Was expensive as hell..

Go to almost any reputable car audio shop. They will most likely do a better job too

At least back about a decade the folks at Best Buy were legit. Went through a lot of training and workshops for installing car audio. Can't speak about present times.

OP, remote start is the tits. Don't care what system you get, but it's awesome to have. Cool in the summer when you get in and heater going in the winter. My Silverado has it from the factory and I use it just about daily.
