Open to any and all help. I will try to keep this brief but good luck, Tom...
Next week I am 72. I have been lifting/running most of my adult life. I just had a knee operation and am now ok to start running again. It's been a long time. Though I have lifted all my life, my routines became very sedentary. Two years ago, ironically through a running site, I got, pardon the pun, pumped to get serious about lifting again.
Without a hint of whining, try to keep in mind that age really does affect the body. I have had host of operations as a result of over extending myself in physical fitness through the years and, of course, arthritis. The results have been a very modified lifting routine then what I have done for decades. However, as I said, right up until COVID, it took two years to get within about ten plus pounds in all my categories in achieving where I was a decade ago. I am so frustrated with COVID.
Speaking of COVID, I know there are polar views on this. However, wife and I are in the bullseye of where COVID hits worse. It's the ONLY reason I am not back at Planet Fitness which we loved. We are just not willing to roll the dice.
I bought some weights that cover about 75% of what I did: bench, bar, enough weights, curl bar, and dumbbells of varying weights that work for me.
Ok, open to suggestions, supplements, routines, and most of all, encouragement.
Oh, and a little humor with pic uploads. First one is 1967 in high school. Then we move forward 53 years...

Welcome to the forum Tom. Hell you have been doing this longer than me. Hopefully you have some wisdom of your own to share.
I understand your frustration with Covid and like you I am not willing to take the chance at going back to the gym. With that, I stopped my gym membership last year and spent most of the past year building my home gym. Fun thing to do when the weights are scarce and worth their weight in gold.
Consistency is the key to all of it. Good luck and welcome again.

Big fan of the home gym here. If you've been able to pick up most of what you need, don't let the lack of gym access hold you back. Sounds like you'll need to customize your routine a bit creatively, but that's part of the fun!

Welcome to the forum . I’m impressed that your doing resistance training at your age , and I’m hoping to stick with it myself . I’m 60 next April .
Unfortunately tendonitis has slowed me down , but I improvise as much as I can . Bench pressing with a barbell is just destroying my forearms , as the tendons regardless of how much weight I use.
I improvise with dumbbells , as I seem to get away with using them . Now I just need a way to work my legs without my knees aching like crazy .
I’m debating to try a hack squat machine at the gym to see if it helps , and if does I’ll invest in one .
I’m also a home gym crew guy here . Started slowly building one years ago , and just kept adding .
At my age I’m liking things that are therapeutic, so I bought the same water jet bed that my chiropractor had in his office .
Here’s a few pics of my basement gym, but it’s always being improved as I find time and money.
As for the mixed colours, it’s all being transitioned to orange as the yellow gets phased out
There’s a mat over it right now to keep the heat in ,but you get the idea . I think if I moved the water jet bed and rower upstairs , I could get put a hack squat machine in there place
Here’s a video I made while drunk Miscing

Thank you. I think somewhere in this thread, maybe edit, that strength with some body shape (of course!) has been my goal. So, I am far from a classic body builder. Yet I really like this forum and it is doing what I want, as in getting weight training in a higher gear. Funny, I am not a terribly disciplined guy, but running and weights have been a steady-Eddie for me. Go figure!

HOLY FRIJOLE!!!!! Won't you be my neighbor!!!! That is just flat awesome! I am really sorry about your forearms. My rotators are shot. When I bench, the first set is like little demons with pen knives sticking them in each shoulder. However, strangely, into the second set it greatly diminishes and nothing on the third set. Maybe I should start with the third set, first...
With encouragement from y'all, I am literally moving my garage "gym" to second floor guest room - with wife's permission! Going to post it today or tomorrow. I'm laughing to myself right now as I look at your pics and then when you see mine!!

What does your doc say about your forearms? I lift three days a week. If I can remember, I take two Aleve (naproxyn) in the morning and it greatly reduces the pain. In my case the doc says ok but you need to be careful as extended use is bad on your liver. No, I don't know what "extended" time means.

Thank you. Without a hint of judging...and i mean it, I watched many of my peers in their twenties, who used to be skinny, just fall apart with weight. Even the chiseled jocks just let it go as well. I would see guys with huge beer bellies and groan inside. Funny, I ran sprints in high school and felt sorry for distance runners. After reading a best seller book by a guy named Jim Fixx I got excited about distance running. I got hooked and became part of my life as well. As I said earlier, I overdid it and it caught up with me in my late forties. Lots of modifying routines.
