Not sure how this pandemic is going to affect anything. Sure hope most of the gums make it. I know many of you train at home but i always like getting out. What do you all see for the future?

I went to a real gym for over 25 years. Now, the local Planet Fitness. There are pros and cons. You have to be creative.
I think Planet Fitness has taken a lot of the business lost from larger gyms.
Gyms have slim margins without COVID, so I expect many will not survive.Helping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

It's all I have around here, so no choice. I don't have a home gym. PF usually has 5 Smith Machines, DBs up to 70lbs, lots of machines and cardio - treadmills, elipticals, etc. They are clean and open 24 hours.
If a better gym opens once COVID is under control, I'll be first in line.Helping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

i've heard some gyms have gone as far as to move their equipment outside. along the same line of thought that outdoor eating is somehow ok, but indoor is not. that would suck however to be the guy that has to move it out, and then back in at the end of the day. who knows if its more than just free weights/treadmills.
businesses will either adapt, or they'll die, same as always.my workout blog: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=177584181&p=1588523911#post1588523911

The insane real estate costs here have pretty much dictated that only the big corporate mega-gyms can survive in this city.
So we have fewer gyms but they're in general huge.
Little powerlifting gyms like John mentioned just can't exist here.
I wish there was one.
But I foresee continual lockdowns and bull**** rules. Gyms were shut here for 5 straight months, then open for only two months then shut down again and they remain closed.
I've got about 10k in my home gym now. Need a few more things but prices are just stupid and availability is non-existent.Insta: flexjs

I got my cambered bar attachments on Friday so I can do OHP now. That was the one thing I still could not do at home because of the low ceiling.
I also ordered a pair of 2" high Yoga bricks yesterday for Lisa to put her feet on when she benches. LOL.
Hopefully getting a pair of adjustable dumbbells for Christmas then after that all I need is an adjustable bench. We have two flat benches now.Insta: flexjs

I lifted in a public gym in the 80's but then lifted at home until about two years ago when my wife joined Planet Fitness and was able to take a guest (me!) every workout. I must admit, the compliments that I received were a good ego boost. You have to realize that the average male gym member at PF can't do 2-3 pull-ups and many can't even due ONE. So anyone who can do 10 or more (especially someone with a grey beard!) stands out.
Things are going to have to get a lot better (vaccine with very high efficiency or something like that) before I'll consider going back to a public gym. I just don't NEED the public gym.Pull-Up PR: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=177233951

^^^Very nice nadmine. I like the way it connects to your Smith. I never used a handle like that. I imagine a better range of motion. I always used the typical narrow pulldown bar used for back to place underneath the BB. That was at my YMCA. Gone now. So, I do close-grip rows from the floor off the Smith Machine as one of my back change-ups. I know, sad.
