If you are a doing strongman yes always work grip
if you want to compete at powerlifting. Use straps all you want but if you cant hold on to your 1rm, you need to train grip.
If you're not competing in powerlifting or strongman and you always use straps, you do not need any grip strength. Whether you train it or not depends if grip strength is a goal for you.

If you compete in powerlifting then grip work essential for deadlifts. Or learn hook grip. If not hook grip then use straps and do grip work on the side.
