Welp this launch wasn't for me. I need the 400-500 price point get me a 6700xt on par with 3070 at $450 and I am down.

    Thoughts:
These prices don't matter given Nvidia's supply woes. AMD is going to sell all their stock and pick up some market share.

AMD should have pushed power draw up to 5800xt to 320 watts if it was able to secure the outright win across all titles. This is VERY interesting for partner models with an OC. AMD's cooling solutions are trash so if the AIBs can squeeze out more performance.

    ONCE SUPPLY Stabilizes.
6800 doesn't have a home. It is too expensive and doesn't provide enough performance over the 3070 for the $80 price premium.
6800XT is an interesting card and if Sapphire is able to offer a compelling solution at +$10-20 they have a winner it will win out right.

6900XT - Intredasting. With this marketed as a "Gaming Card" and $500 less than the 3090 is is pretty compelling.

The numbers look great but they look great at every press release for AMD

Didnt you learn from nvidias 3080 pressor which made it seem like the best thing ever made? Take it down a notch

6900xt is running overclocked (Rage mode) and with a special boost memory feature only on Ryzen 5000 processors. 3090 is stock. On Intel, stock vs stock, 3090 should win.
What matters is what both cards will do overclocked on air, how far will 6900xt scale when the gloves get removed

With the 3080, i think amd needs a dlss alternative because that’s actually a big deal
Im not brand loyal, i buy whatever is best

AIB RTX 3080 are creeping the $1000 mark

if you can get a 6900XT for MSRP.. thats game over.. 3090 performance at $500-700 less (AIB markups)

Ppl have been undervolting their 3090s
They only lose 1-2% performance but since it improves boost behavior and temps. So they basically get the same performance with less power draw.

my point still stands though, the MAJOR price difference that can be used elsewhere in the rig.

Yea if we are talking 6800xt pricing $649 vs rtx 3080 $699 at a $50 difference I would still go nvidia.. BUT thats comparing those two products that are competing with each other...

comparing 6900xt to the 3090.. we are talking $500-$700 (founders/AIB) price difference.. this likely will murder nvidia's 3090 sales. unless jensen price cuts

I don't trust AMD's cooling solution so you will want to see what the AIB cooling looks like.

The Frames Per $$$ is there assuming AMD isn't 100% full of it.

I would target Sapphires 6900XT then keep an eye out for Gamers Nexus reviews and return it if they botch it for some reason.

    I agree with you,
Although i dont think ppl who spend $1000 plus on gpus are very price sensitive and simply look for the best performance
In fact aib partners are going as high as $1800 and those cards (asus strix, evga ftw3) are the most in demand and are easily fetching $3k+ on ebay

    Eventually it will mater more

This generation is the wrong gen to buy either of the amd/nvidia range topping gpus since it will be a 1 yr cycle instead of 2 year
Nvidia is bringing their new gpus onto 5nm next fall. Hoper or whatever its called

So i would say dont go over the $650-700 gpu range since they will get devalued due to a quick generation

the best option is buying a 6900xt at MSRP $999.. vs AIB versions of the RTX 3080 that is fetching $850-999 right now

6800xt would made more sense at $599 instead of the extra $50 tbh.

Guys, AMD has its own similar but different DLSS.

It works with all DX12 and Vulkan games and with the 5700 and 6000 series cards. In that sense it's better than DLSS which needs to be specifically written for it.

There are some reviews and it has some pros and cons over DLSS. Do some research yourselves (there's one out there that discusses Metro Exodus and Battlefield 5, but here's a link to the name and basic info:

    https://www.amd.com/en/technologies/...age-sharpening

Personally I think the larger library/support makes it more universally useful.

I'm just pissed that the 6900 XT has a release date of December 8th lol. If it came out sooner (like 3rd week of November) I'd consider actually getting it over a RTX 3080.

I'm planning to build a Zen 3 based build in November, so I'll just have to go with 3080, 3090, or 6800 xt I guess. Unless there's inventory issues then F it, who knows what'll happen at that point.

Too hard to say as of now until we can see some ray tracing benchmarks if ray tracing is what you're hung up on as the deciding factor.

You have to be the ONLY person I know so fking retarded, you can't understand how good competition is for the consumer.

You really feel bad for Nvidia? They're a multi billion dollar company you fking tard. Losing out on GPU sales for a quarter literally doesn't mean fk all for them. Not to mention, no one fked up this launch but them. They deserve to eat **** for their incompetence on this one. They could have been raking in the money allllll this time if they actually had supply and didn't have their heads up their asses just trying to rush the damn cards to market.

The shroud and whether they use their back plate as a heat sink or not make a massive difference.

Sapphire vs XFX is a great example of how one can deliever and one can fuk it up despite similar designed products. Details matter.

As for why I don't trust AMD. LOL I spent 2 hours listening to Buildzoid ramble about how AMD can't design heatsinks and him picking apart flaws in the design.

I always thought they had outside help for the heatsinks. I know a lot of OEM's consult with people like Cooler Master for example to design and manufacturer their heatsinks.

I wanted to get a 3080, but if rumors are true stock isn't going to normalize til q2 2021. If AMD has stock I might get 6800xt or 6900xt.

I can't speak to any of that. All I can do is poorly parrot buildzoid...

The cooling on the Radeon VII was highlighted as an example of their incompetence.

The fact that Intel crapped the bed is also going to help AMD gpus. There's very little reason to go Intel anymore for the next few years and if AMD can perfect some of this combo tech it makes full AMD builds much more appealing.

Dam AMD potentially beating out intel in single thread tests and now their gpu is on par with Nvidia? Pretty crazy the improvements they've made over the previous gen stuff. I might have to try a 5800x/6800xt combo. I was hoping they would release something good just so the 3080s would come back to reality in price but now Im tempted to try all AMD. Glad I sold my 3090 ftw3 before all the resellers stuck with 3000 series cards scramble to sell theirs before the chance of profiting is gone. Lol at all the people who just spent 3k+ on 3090s and 1500+ on 3080s. Hopefully amd has a huge stock of these cards.
