Does it make sense to text a girl you had class with a while back?

I finished with school earlier this year and right now am just doing things to keep busy at home while I look for a job but I don't have any girls in rotation right now except one

I had some moderate success on tinder last year but dropped it after a while, dated a girl at my last job for a short while. I was thinking of texting a girl I had class with almost a year ago, I texted her a few months ago to ask how her final project was going (we all had projects final semester) but that was it. She was receptive at first but the convo died. Is it pretty much too late at this point? She also graduated same class as me.
