Its been such a horrible year. But as a late 20's semi-youngcel im glad to have experienced such a terrible year economically and socially. I feel like I have an intimate understanding of risk management now. I grew up in the workforce of the 09-2019 bull market so this was a wake up call for me. Most of my highly leveraged investments exploded during the late Feb crash. Moving forward I feel like ill see everything more clearly, manage my risk better and gain a bit of that boomer wisdom. I feel like if you were actively managing your investments during the 2020 bear market you gained like a decade worth of valuable experience.
Im down maybe 60-80k capital loss but I feel like I came ahead when it comes to the knowledge/experience I gained (srs).
Feel like 2021 is gonna by a Yuge year for me.

I actually let it get the best of me.
That isn’t the years fault, or the events that occurred during the years fault, I know. I just really haven’t been good to myself at all. I’m fixing it for sure. Not my best year. In fact, probably one of my worst. I just have to start over.I only read thread titles and my own posts.

Same for me man. Everyone deals with trials and tribulations in life. What really matters is if you bounce back or fall into the Abyss.
Ray Dalio (founder biggest hedge fund in the world) lost everything and had to fire everybody from his old hedge fund before Bridgewater
Grant Achatz (chef of ALinea 3 star Michelin joint) got throat cancer and lost his sense of taste as a chef
Shahid khan (owner of Jaguars) was homeless and sleeping in a YMCA, now worth 10 billion
a couple of inspiring stories

I'm not sure I would use the word 'thankful' but 2020 definitely hasn't been as bad for me as it has for some. Although I am very thankful that I managed to keep my job as well as keep my side gig profitable.
I have always overbooked myself, especially on the weekends and it was starting to affect me. The lockdowns actually helped me save a chit ton of money that otherwise would've been spent on eating/drinking out or just on stupid chit that added very little substance to my life. In turn it allowed me to spend more time on things that I truly enjoy and that have a positive effect on my life and well being. This crazy year has helped put a lot of things into perspective for me and helped me better identify which things required more of my time, which required less and just reiterated what is truly important at the end of the day.

What 2020 should've been for me:
- A chance to accelerate certification progression / studying (less commuting = more time to study | more bored time = more time to study)
- A chance to alternate or stop bad behaviors (tobacco, alcohol, restaurants)
- A chance to reconnect with friends via internet/gaming
- A chance to save more money due to less driving, and less nights out
- A chance to clean up the diet
What 2020 actually has been for me:
- Increased alcoholism to the point of near daily consumption (bored all the time)
- Restaurants / delivery nearly daily (bored all the time, convenient, can play games more)
- Zero studying / certification progression (early COVID the testing centers were closed and there weren't online options... this has since changed but I've ignored it)
No more! We've got 2 months left of 2020, and these will be the months to rectify all of those issues and lead into 2021 being a super positive year. Get into GOOD habits now starting TODAY, so that by 2021 those good habits are your every day normal.

My kids are doing great with distance learning, none of us have been sick since last year, and Trump is going to win by a landslide.

It definitely taught me the meaning of gratitude. Gratitude for everything that's gone right in a world that seem trending towards wrong. Gratitude for our resilience. Gratitude that I can still hit the track daily.
But fck me if it hasn't been hard.None of the above constitutes legal advice nor should be interpreted as such.

2020 has been the best year of my life.
Last year I was broke and starting a new business. Literally all of my close friends stole my business idea and opened their own store that they copied from me. They cut me out from the friend group over business. My gf at the time broke up with me at my lowest point (no money, no friends, business deep in the red).
Soon after, my business started to thrive, started making 6 figures for the first time in my life, etc...

my HOA gym has shut down multiple times, but the one at work never fully did. between that and all the rest of the bs going on in the real world, 2020 has been a great year to get, and keep me focused. in january, my squat and deadlift were both 85#. today i did 190 on both, x8 on squat, x6 on deads. easily get over 200# before the year is out. my mind is much more right than it would've otherwise been.
that's progress on multiple fronts.my workout blog: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=177584181&p=1588523911#post1588523911

I wish I could see the positive of Covid.
It literally mentally took me down and drove me into the ground being cooped up. Anxiety, mental breakdowns, felt like a baby. I’ve been work with a doctor and now am starting to feel more like myself.
I legit was losing my mind brahs. I was obsessing about tiny details going over every conversation, email, text in my head over and over all day. Couldn’t sleep, couldn’t lift, couldn’t focus.Pronouns: Bro/Brah
