It sounds like this is a motion interpolation setting you dont like?

Film is usually 24 or 30 frames per second. The TV has a 60 or even 120 (or more for expensive sets) panel.

The TV has to do digital processing to match or scale up the frames from the source to the panel. They can create interpolated frames on 120hz sets and make movies look like they are soap operas, make it look "too smooth".


4k or 1080p shouldnt matter, 1080p is a direct 4x upscale to 4k. But if the TV is really cheap maybe the upscaler is slow, i couldnt imagine them selling a TV with an upscaler so slow it cant keep up but who knows. I dont have a super cheap 4k TV. I only have cheaper 1080 TVs and a nice mid-high range 4k TV.

look through your manual / settings for motion smoothing, motion blurr or motion interpolation and turn it off.


And yes more expensive TV's are either OLED or have zone lighting with 300 different zones to better control brightness levels.

i looked at the reviews there and alot of people complaining, it sounds like a chitty model and that it is running android prob slows it down. They are basically having an entire android computer, like a tablet or phone, plus the entire TV, for $200, so think of how slow the android computer part is to meet the budget.

I got a 43" 1080p tv for my mom for $200, but this was 4 years ago, IDK if they make them anymore, hers is a sharp. It is a "dumb" TV and we have an android box hooked up to it separate, a lot faster than what a built in android tv would be. At that price point i would rather have a "dumb" TV but idk if they even make them anymore.

Android TV is great. The best Smart TV OS IMO. But the TV definitely needs a beefy processor to run it and other picture processing functions well, which a $200 TV will not have.

TCL can have some decent panels but in the end they are peasant tv's so you get those results. Find a decent 4k set with Variable Refresh Rate (Freesync). VRR will smooth out gameplay with no screen tearing. With games gonna be floating around 45-60 @4k on new consoles, this is going to be a must have feature imo. But don't go back to a 1080p panel thats just wrong when so many 4k options exist now.

I remember when my uncle bought this like 80" TV for his living room, the thing is absolutely massive and is like crystal clear. I was watching Transformers 1 on it and like you could definitely see what was CGI and what was not. I changed a few settings, one of them was like the motion blur and boom it was back to looking like it was supposed to.

Idk about you but between gaming/TV my television is on a good chunk of the day every day. It's like a bed, one of the things that is worth the price given the amount of time you use it.

For 40" being around the $500 ballpark is a good price point if you're trying to be on budget. Something like a Samsung TU8000 or a Q60T are your best bet at 43".

I dont know that 40" TVs are even really good options for 4k if I'm being honest.
