    Carbs, Thirst, Morning Glucose?

If you eat high carb, how often do you wake up to drink/pee during the night? It seems that the more carbs I eat, the more this happens.
I thought maybe I had diabetes so got tested as well as bought a personal glucometer. Fasting sugars are always between 105-115. It's weird, but when I'm not fasting it's usually in the 90s. Doctor said I definitely don't have diabetes though with an A1C of 5.0 and to not worry about the fasting sugars. Just wondering if this frustrating occurrence is common in the bodybuilding world.

Always listen to doctors in the first instance. They might not always get it right but are much more likely to than randoms off the internet.

Protein consumption in the evening can make you pee but not carbs IME.

Donโ€™t know if it has anything to do with carbs but I wake up once. I set my alarm for it even, that way I can catch myself in between sleep cycles so it doesnโ€™t negatively affect my quality of sleep.

    ^^

Happens to me a lot especially since I got into my thirties. Whats worse is when I switch to night shifts and try sleeping during the day and have to wake up 3-4 times for some odd reason. Haha

I don't think its carbs for me but more of I have a problem getting thirsty right before behind and drink too much.

Some nights I will not wake up to pee or just once. Then other nights I might wake up 4 or 5 times to pee. I'm not totally sure what's causing it but it seems that consuming a lot of protein after 3 pm contributes to it. And specifically high protein yogurt (quark) may also contribute. Maybe something to do with a high amount of casein, not sure. Carbs don't seem to have any effect.

Studies have shown that high protein intake increases urea production so that may be driving the urge to pee.

Thanks everybody. 3 different doctors all said everything looks 'fine' regarding sugars, prostate, thyroid, etc. so just looking for others' personal experiences as I wasn't sure if it's a common thing in the exercise community. Sometimes I get lucky with once and other times it's 5+ which sucks.

I have always got up in the night for a pee, pretty normal I think. If I purposefully don't drink anything three hours before bed I could possibly go all night without one. The only thing I find changes with increased carbs, is the need to drink during the night and more likely to wake up dehydrated, also I seem to sleep a bit better.

I always pee first thing in the morning.

The only way carbs make you pee more is if you are diabetic but then your also consuming a lot of water, your blood sugar is perfect though

How much water do you drink a day

Maybe itโ€™s time to try kegels
