    My $25 Homemade Powerblocks Stand

When the pandemic started I had no equipment at home as I used to work out in the gym. I was able to grab a set of Powerblocks dumbells and kettlebell off of Amazon. Like a bonehead I didnt buy a bench or weight stand. Was able to finally find a commercial bench but stands are tough to find and the prices are ridiculous. So I built my own.

This stand cost me $25. Here is everything that I used.

-Metal legs that I found on the side of the road to be thrown out - free

-Wood for top came from left over decking - free

-Wood for the box that holds the adder weights came from old solid wood drawers that I found on the road to be thrown out - free

-Wood for the base came from plywood shelving I found on the road to be thrown out - free

-Paint, stain and polyurethane left over from projects in my house - free

-Throwaway brushes - $5 at the hardware store

-Bolts and screws - free + $5 at the hardware store

-Wheels - bought a 1000lb dolly at Harbor Freight and disassembled it - $15 on sale.

Let me know what you guys think. The last pic is the tablesaw I used to build it. Found it a few years ago for $100 and refurbished it. Its roughly from 1955, solid metal, no plastic. Weighs about 400lbs.

Home made, solid and well built. I like it. The wheels are a good idea making it easier to move and store.

Excellent DIY rendition of the stand and dirt cheap to build compared to buying their Home Rack Stand new (which I own and while it's nice and all, it's very expensive for what it is), this DIY stand is better looking in my opinion.

Go to Powerblocks website and send them an e-mail to send you a free decal sticker for it, I received a nice bubble logo sticker which I decided to put on the steel front facing below the top of the stand surface...

Here was mine, though I spent a lot more than $25... considering the dumbbell saddles, angle iron, and saw table base had to be purchased.

The handles are Christian's Fitness Factory 38MM (1.5") stainless steel prostyle handles. They have excellent knurl, I really like the knurl. A bit thicker than most dumbbells but they work really well for pressing movements. The endcaps were ordered from Intek and the bolts and washers were ordered from eBay, grade 8 bolts 5/8-18 x2" hex bolt. I like the hex bolt style because I can easily tighten and loosen them without risk of rounding out a countersunk allen head screw. Intek had the best deal on hex head endcaps, they were $5.50 each. Intek is really easy to talk to, they are the nicest people I have bought fitness stuff online from. I corresponded with them via email.

The CFFit handles come with allen head screws and washer so you do not need end caps, but I found I adjusted these a lot as I went up and down in strength on exercises so I switched to the Intek end caps.

The plates are Cap, there is some variation in the plates and at the time I had some forearm pain / golf elbow so I ended up weighing them all to balance the dumbbells out, maybe its a bit OCD but it decreased some of the strain I felt in my golf elbow.

I'll probably end up selling the setup when I buy Ironmasters, though I might keep a pair of 30s just for curls and warmups. I have one of each SDH 1,2,3,4,5 and a bunch of plates so I can make any size dumbbell up to 105 but it takes awhile to set them up, which I don't like.

Hmmm. It just occurred to me I'll have a hell of a time trying to cut grind and tap a 1.5" stainless steel handle :/
I was searching for candidates for some custom powerblock handle replacements.
