focus on low reps, so of course their muscles arent fatigued and they can lift heavier.
plus, they bloatmax which helps with strength

deadlifting strength isn’t true strength. it’s CNS and body proportions/technique

there’s a reason why you’ll see twinks pulling 700-800lb+. Take any guy and put them on a good deadlift program, perfect technique and they’ll add 100lbs within a few months

No one really needs a lot of strength when they are young, but trust me you sure as hell do as you age.

Powerlifting is a sport with rules and I can respect those that do the best at it. It's not a "strength" competition per se, it's a "who can lift the most weight with these given rules".

Compare pitchers in baseball. They are often skinny lenky guys who are not that strong, but have masterrd the art of mechanics to throw a ball 100mph with precision within a set of pitching rules.

If the competition is to lift rocks then people will begin to specialize and master the art of picking up rocks surpassing the really "strong" guy who does full ROM on exersizes. You can then switch it up again and say but can he throw a big heavy stone farther than anybody else and again you can keep changing how to measure strength.

Training is training and I can agree full ROM is better for overall gains but competition is competition. You don't give the winning medal to who trains the best.

One reason Olympic weightlifting isn't more popular is the extensive drug testing.
You can't just blast and cruise in Olympic Weightlifting and get away with it.
Larry Wheels couldn't compete along with many others.

If steroids and peds didn't exist Olympic weightlifting would be more popular
I encourage people to try it because it is a lot of fun

I have a hard time believing Olympians are natty, but I do agree that Olympic lifts are more impressive than the big 3 powerlifting lifts.

    Oly lifts @ 3:20

    Aesthetics is for twinks.

The best of both worlds is for mesos.

Why is strength more important as you age, especially in the urban 21st century where you can sit on your ass all day making misc vids, drinking beer and ordering food?

If we're talking about mogging, then real fighting ability and experience is the most important. Sure, being a bloatlord can give you some level of feigned confidence, but nothing else gives a man real confidence like stepping into the ring/octagon and sparring heavy/engaging in combat time and time again for several years.
Not sure where confidence came into the picture. But actual war makes young, weak men confident, even when it’s with guns. There’s nothing in this world like someone trying to kill you and your friends, and you walk out alive and the other guys don’t.

WRT the OP, leverages have a lot to do with certain lifts. Short femurs/long torso, you will have an upright posture with squats and great ability for oly lifts. Long femurs/short torso, you’ll squat like Layne Norton and cannot get into the bottom position of a clean without leaning forward.

Why does anyone have to hate on others for doing what they’re good at/what they want to do? If someone sucks at making music, are you gonna say, “LOL music is cope!!!!1”

I mean it definitely is. It's something that no one cares about. Do you think your friends, family, co-workers, women etc really care how much you can deadlift and squat? It's about looking like you lift. You could be jacked and tell them that you bench 500 pounds even if you don't and they wouldn't know the difference or care

It's a good excuse to overeat tho

And on top of that you get chit physique because of these roms
Go try do half of what Taylor Atwood does at 15kgs lower bodyweight.

No one really needs a lot of strength when they are young, but trust me you sure as hell do as you age.

Maintaining a low bodyweight and fat % is much more important for longevity and health than being able to pull a huge amount of weight

Why do you need more strength as you age? Beyond a two plate deadlift and a bodyweight bench press level of strength I can't see any benefit to being much stronger as a middle aged man, especially if that comes at the cost of destroying your health through being overweight and the wear and tear that comes through lifting heavy.

Its all about ego, young or old.

    This is on the money.

I think the ego thing is true for everyone to some extent even if they don't admit it. If you can squat 1.5 plates, bench 1 plate and deadlift (conventional) 2 plates then you already have all the strength you need for 'general health'. I went well beyond those thresholds (for bench anyway) because I enjoy lifting and wanted to put on more upper body muscle. But I'm under no illusion that bloat maxing (or roid maxing to avoid the fat gain) in order to lift ridiculously heavy is beneficial for health.
