"I am like getting the feeling of cumming in the gym; I'm getting the feeling of cumming at home; I'm getting the feeling of cumming backstage; when I pump up, when I pose out in front of 5000 people I get the same feeling, so I am cumming day and night. It's terrific, right? So you know, I am in heaven."

Rua, Machida, Rampage, and Rashad all were practically past their prime from places like Pride. Even Rua had lost to Forrest of all people and Machida only had one decent run before losing to Rua. Rampage and Rashad had also lost a fair deal by then, Rashad to Machida.
When he faced fresh new blood like Gus, he struggled in the first fight. Looked more than human against Reyes and Santos.
He came into a LHW division that was changing champs every second because all fighters were past their prime in most cases.

When they asked John McEnroe why he called Serena Williams greatest female player instead of greatest player, he said it’s because Roger Federer would beat her 6-0, 6-0.
When you talk of guys like Aldo or Jon Jones, you talk of lower weight classes. This is a GOAT discussion, there is only one heavyweight on the poll and the only one of the greats who didn’t pop for steroids, so the answer is obvious.
Think of boxing, who is the GOAT, Ali, Tyson etc. Notice both are heavyweights... There is a reason for that. You don’t call some 125 pounder GOAT, it would be retarded, he would look like a midget next to Ali.
Who is the greatest driver of all time? Let’s say Michael Schumacher, but why not some guy who races slow cars? We think of F1.
Or take striking, K1, who won K1 GP, those are GOATS of striking, Ernesto Hoost etc. Again, all heavyweights.
Karelin, GOAT wrestler, heavyweight.
If you talk about GOAT you have to talk about the biggest, and the best. Who would win head to head. No weight cutting, and certainly no steroids.

GSP no doubt. He has some losses but avenged them all. He's probably the most complete fighter ever. It didnt matter whether you were a KO artist, D1 wrestling champion, decorated BJJ practioner. He took it to everyone. Out struck strikers, out grappled BJJers, out wrestled wrestlers. Nothing he couldnt do. However later on in his career, he pretty much just wrestled. But an upcoming GSP was crazy. He had solid striking, and just wrecked everyone.
Kind of wish he would of fought Khabib. I have no doubt he would of destroyed him.
GSP also held belts in two weight classes unlike JJ, mighty mouse, and SilvaLast edited by xpin2winx; 11-05-2020 at 01:22 AM.

Tough question really and the varied responses show that.
I have GSP, Jones and Khabib at the top. Jones with the * by his name arguably number 1. It would solidify it for me if he hadn't got busted and if he won at HW. Khabib is there but I think he needed some better competition and more high ranked fights. Mighty Mouse cushioned his win rates and defenses with cherry picked fights, screw him.
It all boils down to overall greatest with all things considered. Dennis Siver.
Edit: why is Conor in the poll? LMFAO. The dude has the biggest star power and bank of course but to be mentioned in the greatest discussion is laughable

I think talent and competition mean one thing, ingenuity to adapt properly and bring the right spirit to your career also count.
Some 300lb sickunt with special genetics who outmuscles his competition with a weak training programme he followed lazily would not rank above GSP for me even if he won a couple more titles. He would need to pursue greatness in ways that moved the bar.Je me souviens

1) So am I. And Khabib only has 3-4 more top 5 wins in his entire career than I do. He's simply nowhere close to even being in the discussion. All the GOAT candidates have around 10-15+ top 5 wins.
2) They're all on steroids. If you don't understand that you're pretty naive. The only way you could criticize somebody imo if it was so obvious and over the top like TRTOR or Overeem where got a siginifcant advantage over their competition anyway
3) Sure.

Reach advantage is a YOOOOOOOGE advantage. This is why it’s even written on the front page before the fights. Every inch of reach advantage is a significant advantage. Size advantage is likewise very important. Jones is huge. Walks around at 230+ sometimes.
Jones has not just reach advantage, he has like half a foot reach advantage. It’s like fighting someone who is poking at you with two tridents non-stop. If I recall correctly he is at 84 inches reach, this is sick, extremely gifted athlete. 78-80 inch reach at that height is already considered long.
Yes, other great fighters can overcome this, but it’s a great advantage. The things Jones does technically are not good, other fighters would get destroyed if they tried it, Jones is simply gifted genetically, while guys like Machida have to work on it and do things properly. Jones may be the best natural gifted fighter, but not a GOAT Martial Artist, not by a long shot.

We don’t know if Fedor was fighting on juice In PRIDE. I had frank conversations with members of his team a decade ago and repeatedly got the feel that he was not on roids and his team were super pissed off that his top opponents clearly and pretty much openly were on roids. Honestly I can’t say. Sometimes I see what kind of shot he took from Crocop etc. I’m having a very hard time imagining a natural human survive that, but Fedor remains the only GOAT among GOATS who didn’t get caught. So there is that... idk

I am normally not one to think pro athletes are natty but I met GSP in person once and in street clothes you would never guess he looks like he does in the octagon. Pretty normally looking guy tbh and quite short. I think he may be part of the 1% that are just super genetically gifted and he has been an athlete most of his life iirc so he had a good foundation to build on.
