    Lightbulb Driving 30 minutes everyday to my nearby gym!?!!

    Should I just go ahead and drive to a gym that’s 30 minutes from my house everyday!!?! I love bodybuilding and don’t want to ruin my progress with my coach but at the same time I’ll burn through gas like crazy since I’m training pretty much everyday and I’ll have to sacrifice a lot more gym time out of my day compared to when my local gym which is 10 minutes away when it was open. It’ll be a month before gyms in my area reopen in Canada and I’m really stuck on if I should sacrifice more time and expenses for training.

    You could have a couple at home workouts planned out on days you can’t or don’t wanna go to the gym

    For a while, my gym that was around the corner opened up for sidewalk workouts. They were really pricey and they had to bring out equipment as I needed it. So I just did 2x or 3x full body. That's probably what I'd do if I had to drive so far. Actually in my situation I value free time more than money, so I might just do 2x, or go back to cycling and hiking for a while. It takes a very long time to shrivel away.

    Till your local gym opens back up. I think I would consider changing my work outs to every other day. Everybody has a busy schedule and the extra drive time adds up quick. Taking time away from something else. With a Canadian winter coming drive time will only get worse. On your off days from the gym you could do cardio or home works.

    I dunno where in Canada you are but be careful about travelling out of town to avoid the gym lockdowns. A lot of the places around the GTA for example have started checking peoples IDs and turning out of towners away. I'd also prepare for that month to be extended further. Might want to start consider home workouts or a split between gym days and home workout days.

    How much money will you spend on gas in 6-12 months? Save the gas money and buy your own free weights to make your own home gym.

    I drive 50-60 minutes 4x a week at 4AM to get my workout in, to drive back home then commute to work. 3 hours of driving on these days.
