yeah I know the ps4 is @ 60fps, I'm mainly interested for FPS games, so high fps and low input lag on consoles. And the PS5 is reportedly supposed to be 1080p 144hz or 4k 60hz.
I'm looking at the AOC 24G2, its IPS display, 24", 1080p 144hz, 1ms response
looks like the best for the price it seems ($180). Other one I looked at was the ASUS VG249Q.
Are both good for my situation?

it can get complicated, the connection between the monitor and ps5 has to support it.
ps5 is designed primarily for TVs and the newest TVs this year support the new HDMI 2.1 which supports a lot of the new refresh rate features.
You have to look at that monitor and see what the 144hz mode works on, if its just displayport or would even work on its older 1.4 hdmi port.
Since the ps5 isnt out yet and people havent had a chance to play around with it, its not known if the ps5 would support doing 144hz over older hdmi standards or with a displayport adapter. The only real way to find out is to wait after it comes out and have others try it first.
Here is some talk on that:

Sorry OP but I dunno chit about monitors as I am TV Master Race. But, https://www.rtings.com/monitor
Why? New consoles will easily handle that level of performance. MS just announced Halo collection will run 4k 120. Granted that's an older game with lower textures but 4k 60 and 1080 120 should be pretty standard on the new consoles.
