At the very least idk why people wouldn't have thrown their cash into ETFs like VOO or QQQ. I guess at this point they kinda missed the boat and are hoping for a dip to buy into

On an aside question, is VIX something that you can't buy options into? I've tried buying calls but it never lets me enter a bid, its always grayed out.

What’s the average annual return rate?

If you take $240k and add $1k/month, and have an annual return rate of 7%, in 10 years you will have $637k

That's not entirely true. I'll just give you the general gist of it looking at sales:

The recent jump up was from JP upgrading NIO to a target of ~$40.
Citi followed up the with an upgrade to around ~$33.

20K cars sold hardly justifies a 40B market cap my man. The price increase is almost completely tied to Tesla boosting up every EV play into multi baggers

Their net profit margin is -30% in their highest earning quarter ever.

Unfortunately, a lot of investing in general is tied with speculation. 40B? It's not ever hit that amount. It's almost at $30B at the moment. China is a massive market, and it's growing significantly in the EV sector. A lot of the speculation tied to it's value is that NIO will be huge in China and gradually expand to other Asian countries, if not outside. There's no mistake that EVs are going to be huge. NIO's goal for end of 2021 is to be able to produce 150K cars annually. Nowhere near Tesla, but there's no comparison in valuation between the two. Tesla itself is at about $419B right now as we speak.

Also, NIO is so far, more of a luxury brand right now.

Google shows 38B market cap right now and Yahoo finance 34B. Even if its 30 the price target you posted of 40 would be a 30% increase, again on dick all for sales. 1000% increase on their stock based on any metric you can provide shows it to be incredibly inflated, not saying its a bad investment but there is literally zero reason for it to be up 1000% in 7mnths

in. Haven't been as active lately because this the month before a crucial election is so damn volatile IMO, so I've sold off a significant part of my holdings and am just sitting back and seeing how it all unfolds.

Hey, do you know what the fastest way to transfer TFSA account from RBC to Questrade is? Direct TFSA transfer takes like 20 business days it says. I don't wanna wait that long.

Have some questions about options trading if anyone could help answer them.

I want to dabble in some gambling (options trading) with money I can afford to lose. Say I buy $500 worth of contracts (calls or puts, whichever) and the contracts end up worthless. Is $500 the most I will lose from that? Or does it go deeper than that and affects my whole account?

In other words I wanna risk losing a specific set of money that I'm ok with, without bankrupting my whole account on accident and ending up on WSB. Thanks.

Billionaire investor/hedge fund managers like Baron, Woods, etc. are saying Tesla shouldn't be valued on sales or what the companies worth now but what it will be worth in 5+ years. Tesla's focus has been on scaling and reducing the price to consumers not trying to turn a profit. I just saw a recent video with Baron saying that retail traders and stock volatility isn't relevant and Tesla is still likely to 5x its current valuation. I do believe he said in as little as 5 years.

Basically what I gather is value investors and people trying to run the numbers on the company are just looking at car sales and profitability. But what is Elon really working on? Expansion. Delivering a better product at a lower/more affordable cost. Going global with the company. Then AI, batteries, solar power, space exploration, etc.

I originally thought Tesla was just a hype train but I've been following what the bulls have been saying about it for awhile now and they appear to be on point. I've made a lot of money is Tesla and I'm going to keep investing in them.

Nio gonna have to compete with Tesla now. Tesla is expanding into Asia so GL with that.

If you’re buying calls or puts, the most you can lose is the amount you invested.
Selling options naked, on the other hand, is where you can lose an infinite amount of money.

Keep in mind there’s a sovereign debt crisis and banks are the biggest holders of government debt. So I’d be wary of investing in banks.

    You don't have to worry.

Most brokers won't let you short options naked unless u have massive assets to back it up.

They will ask u a bunch of info and chit before they approve you for that anyway.
