Question Which Current Sports Cars Age Well?

Which would you say hold their relevance/looks 20-30 years down the road? For example, Vettes age extremely well. C1, C2s are collectibles, as are Vipers.

Let's say you wanted to buy a lightly used sports car with ~10-15k miles and ride it to the ground

M series? AMG? RS? New Supra? MOPAR? Stangs? V-Series?

Hellcats will, I think. They represent the first challengers very well, but I wouldnt place any bets on anything below that trim level to stay desirable

    sport cars or sporty cars?

Since you listed all those I assume you meant sporty cars. And to answer your question, honestly any of the cars you listed.

    As for sport cars: S2000

I think cars that rely on more subtle and flowing body lines, and stay a bit more true to heritage tend to age better.

Vehicles like M series, corvettes, challengers, vipers, miatas, etc come to mind. Or in an manufacturers cases like Porsche.

While great vehicles, I don’t believe mustangs have aged well post the Fox body 5.0’s besides the Terminator SVT’s. However the current gen Mustangs have looked MUCH better, and I think will age much better than the previous gens.

Camaros, AMG’s, new Supra. Not so much...... but I’d still love one.

Only because I am in the middle of it... I can tell you the 13-14 Mustang GT & GT500 are more sought after in terms of looks. Especially it being the last redesign of the S197 platform and the last years of the live axle. Now how will they hold up in the market in 20y?? Who knows... All of this generations sports cars may be hot items if EV's start cucking the market.

But I am almost willing to bet the Gen 3 S550's... 18+ with the DI and 10R80 will be big in the used market once the prices really start dropping. Those cars are tough to beat in terms of price , styling , comfort , & performance.

But this is all just one mans opinion

    100 % agree with this,

I'm hoping my current car will be desirable in the future (c6 zr1 - last manual zr1 low production etc) but thats just my wishful thinking

Pick a car for fun not for some future value. Unless you area really gonna fix it up and sell it.

Definitely don't get a V series caddie if you want longevity.

If you want a fun DD though a used ATS-V is hard to beat on price. They have great low band power, handling and are comfortable for longer trips too.

OP since you mentioned getting a car sports for longevity, then you need to look at naturally asiprated cars. Right away I would recommend C7 corvettes with the LT1 along with 2016+ Camaro SS since they come with the same motor.

For Japanese cars 370z's can last forever. The VQ motor is bulletproof and since it hasn't been updated in 10 years the interior and tech is very simple and reliable.

The funny thing is that fun and valuable often unify decades down the road.

Fun cars get driven and this chips away at their numbers but not their popularity.

20-30 years is very far down the road to make a reasonable prediction, but I think 5-10 years down the road a lot of current sports cars will no longer be appealing due to EVs. I think the sports cars today that will still be desirable 5-10 years from now are the ones that can do things that EVs wont be able to: notably, make loud noises and provide mechanical feedback. Sports cars focused on the driving experience and engines with unique and attractive exhaust notes will still make for fun weekend cars even once EVs have dominated the market.

Not really a sports car, but I think my first gen raptor will age well. 2012 Raptor w/ 100k miles will still sell for ~65-70% of its original MSRP... thats pretty impressive compared to most sports cars (and even most trucks). A lot of raptors get taken off-roading and eventually will no longer be driving, but I think the appeal for a big N/A V8 off-roading machine that can finish the Baja 500 will always be there, especially due to nostalgia as more people my age (kids who grew up playing DiRT and Forza) acquire the funds to buy one

Since you listed all those I assume you meant sporty cars. And to answer your question, honestly any of the cars you listed.

    As for sport cars: S2000

One's a coupe and the other a sedan.

lotus evora uses toyota engine and from what i can tell a standard double din radio

should last forever and 20 years from now if they still make double din radios, could swap it out for VR hologram andriod auto/apple car play or whatever they have instead of being stuck with ancient infotainment.

But if you get something that is popular enough to have a big community like the vettes, then there is probably someone out there with something hacked together for upgrades, wont be like youre the first person to think of their maintenance or upgrade issues if its a popular car.

so what disqualifies them from being sports cars? would help if you shared your definition of "sports car".
