Nice to see the breakdown. Looks like the M.2 slot isn't too hard to get to. Doesn't seem as elegant of a hardware design as the competition but getting more info is great. I can see the removeable sides being a bonus for people who like to customize their stuff as well which will be cool to see what people come up with. For all the talk about the cooling system it doesn't seem all much different than current implementations and was expecting something different.
Looking forward to DF getting the hardware for a more in depth teardown.

cool to see they use the liquid metal stuff instead of paste, that is the higher end stuff in the PC world.
I wonder about the SSD memory chips being on the motherboard. If that goes bad does the firmware have enough capability to turn that off and only use an m2 drive and be able to install the OS on there? I mean ps3/ps4 only had one harddrive, nothing built in like this.
I just had a m2 drive on my laptop die after 5 years, so makes me worry, any kind of hardware flaw that is unknown now that say makes them age prematurely or get stuck in a bootloop/crash the SSD firmware could be a risk. The old sandforce controller SSD's from years back could get the controller stuck in a bootloop/panic mode because it had a fatal flaw with low power states where it leaves you locked out of your data, could happen randomly after years of working fine. Something like that could wreck the PS5 if they dont account for it.Last edited by elterrible987; 10-07-2020 at 09:05 AM.

Ive been waiting out the preorder stuff this time and will probably buy next year as long as everything is good. When I have a better understanding then I will know whether to sell the ps4 or not. If I can play all my old games and it works flawlessly on ps5, making there be no use for a ps4 anymore then I will sell it.

hmm there is no camera port, that is needed for PSVR and sony has been saying PS5 will support PSVR.... they would need to put out a usb adapter for it.
If they are still going to support VR they will probably release an all new edition, i mean the current one has been using those controllers left over from the ps3 era.

Lol, previews from Japs who had the console have said that its super quiet.
And on that same note, people who have had the xbox series s have said that it's "super hot" but again, noise levels are down on that console as well .... .But the difference between Sony and MS have been is that Sony has been readily showing games running on PS5 but Microsoft has YET to show a game running on the Series X... so who know's wassup with that.Sig line can't be a novel
