Does anyone here cut at or above 3000?
I havent been watching my food recently so i needc to get back into dieting.
Myfitness pal says i should be at 3300 cals for 1lb / week weight loss.
+ 500 cals for daily workout puts me at 3800 cals.
I did first week managed to get through 4 days but took friday off and ate like 5500 (including beers) cals iish. i did drop 2 pounds however. i was down 3 lbs after 4 days put 1 lb back on after cheat day.
Probably Water Weight. i assume.
I guess my question is does anyone have good food suggestions for before bed.
I was eating 800 cals of cashews before bed just to hit the 3300.
Also do you think i should be eating 3300 + eat my exercise cals.
Or eat 3300 and burn the exercise cals.
PS i know my numbers are accurate because i ate 2500cals during the lockdown.(New Zealand) and lost 20 lbs in 2 month period but put it back on quickly as i started binge drinking after.
Height is 6"8 300 lb.
Back when i was in my first few years training i was 250 lb and got 15% body fat measurement.
Never stopped training just didnt eat good and drank lots of beer.
Do you think I would be around 25% bf at current weight?
Any tips or advice for someone trying to get back to 15% bf?

I'll be switching to cutting soon. I'm 6'1 and 179lb at around 16-17% (started my bulk at 163lb and about 13%-14%).
I started bulking at 3100 calories but by the end of the bulk I was eating 3500 calories and not gaining weight (I have a physical job, which obviously contributes to my highish TDEE). Never counted or ate back exercise calories, though.
Theoretically I could start cutting at around 3000 calories but I'll probably be a bit more aggressive than that - maybe 2800.

Damn OP you're a big boi. It's going to be difficult to find people that relate to your higher calorie requirements, but what does work for everybody regardless of size is test it out.
If you lost that much weight at 2.5k being sedentary, I guess 3300kcal is a good starting point, but you're going to have to do better than 4 day streaks if you wanna incorporate massive cheat days like that. I like to keep cheat days once every two weeks if I must absolutely have them, but 4 days is just too short, all that weight variance could be just from water weight.Brazilian Crew |<o>|

The advice is the same for someone 4' tall or 8' tall. review your calorie intake for a month and if your weight is stable drop 500 calories a day to lose a pound of fat per week. If your weight went up slightly drop 500 calories a day plus compensate for the weight gain. say you gained a pound that month then drop an extra 115 a day which would be dropping 615 cals a day for a 1 lb per week loss.
Big people that are carrying a lot of fat in pounds (Not in %) can run a lot bigger deficit than say a small woman
You really cant cross reference what other people are cutting at and have any semblance of comparison as far as what someone of similar stats should be doing. Vastly different NEAT and inaccurate counting and tracking of calories and you'll be way off most of the time.Last edited by Tommy W.; 10-04-2020 at 01:12 PM.

The entire first week of loss will generally be water weight. Not sure why anyone who is eating over 3500 calories would need a cheat day after just 4 days of dieting. I'm 6'5" and just finished my cut, never got below 2500 calories a day for 3 months, never had 1 single cheat day during that entire stretch, so you should be able to easily make plenty of food to keep you satisfied fit inside a target that high.
Either you're serious about this or you're not, but its pretty obvious that if you need a cheat day after just 4 days of eating over 3500 calories, maybe this just isn't for you, mate. All it takes is consistency, effort, proper nutrition, good programming, and TIME.
Don't be upset with the results you didn't get from the work you did not do.
