Yeah, my initial thought was that GSP would be able to take him down and control the fight....
But Israel being like 6’4, and great at control the distance would make that extremely difficult.
Can’t bring myself to ever bet against GSP with just how high a fight IQ he has, but can’t see him not getting pieced up.

One of the best MMA wrestlers ever, with good striking, who always took his opponents down, with 9 title defenses vs a guy who who was taken down several times by Marvin Vettori.
Yeah, I am shocked that he is winning
inb4 yoel couldn't take him down and he is an olympic wrestler
inb4 he improved himselfI like to learn from the mistakes of the people who take my advice.

GSP is not a middleweight
i think he would struggle against Izzy's range and length but hard to bet against GSP.
Then again, Izzy hasn't really fought anybody who tried to wrestle with him. Then again, Izzy is not that easy to take down.
Middleweight lacks wrestlers who actually use their wrestling. Should just throw him against Chris Weidman for the lulz and see what happens. More than likely tho Weidman gets destroyed.positivity brah crew

GSP fanboy here.
I thought his takedowns weren't the same after his knee surgery in 2011. Prior to that his takedowns were incredibly quick, explosive, and well-timed (often engaging right after making an opponent miss on the feet).
I'm just not sure he could keep larger men down and control them the way he did the WW of 10 years ago. I think he probably still finds a way to win against prime Usman, Colby, Woodley but they're probably a lot tougher matchups than the guys he faced during his reign.
Prime Silva or Izzy?
Completely different challenges than he ever faced and very dangerous on the feet but given neither had outstanding takedown defense there's still a path to victory for him.

LoL this isn't even close.
I assume you have actually watched some of GSP's fights and looked and his techniques and what he does?
His main wrestling setup is reading an opponent and timing their strikes with a power double, or setting it up off his jab or double jab.
This relies on his opponents (relative to israel) poor striking setup, not weaving in feints and average footwork.
Israel arsenal is full of feints and trap setting, coupled with his distance control and footwork.
I'm afraid it would end very very badly for GSP.
Go watch GSP's wrestling if you don't believe me.
