It's going to cost you at least $1,500 to run bigger/newer games at 1440p/4k ultra with decent frame rate
That isn't including the monitor which is another $400 at the very least
I have a $2k rig and can barely hit 44 fps on RDR 2 srs

Just spend 2200 on business laptop with built in 4g.
Messed up and regret it though - got a lenovo instead of my usual dell precision. Dells much better. Easy to spend 3k+ on a good computer but most of games I play occasionally are pretty old and don't need it for. Just buying top of the line at the time seems to last a lot longer - getting a new computer setup is always a pain.
Anyways compared to like a brand new Iphone or something that really isn't that much more expensive.

Think about all the tech inside a computer. A CPU fab costs about $10B. Each photolithography machine is ~$20M and the main gate that switches a CPU on or off is 1/6000 the width of a human hair. Every component in a computer takes tens of thousands of stemcel brainmores decades to develop and a worldwide supply chain miles long. I started my finance career in the semiconductor sector and the timelines and number of 0's after every R&D cost estimate blew my fukkin mind.
Compare that to... a couple pairs of yeezys made in sweat shops by peasants. Or an onlyfans girl who charges $200 to answer a DM. Or a $5k mattress.

I don't game anymore, but If I did I'd much rather buy a Nintendo or playstation. **** is super expensive, and you constantly have to upgrade at like 3x the rate these consoles come out.
Could just because I use my computer a lot for work/research so the last thing I want to do in my leisure time is be sitting in a computer chair in front of a monitor even more. Laying on the couch/bed with a controller and a big screen is just so much comfier, easier, and cheaper.

I was wondering the same thing OP, it wasn't always like this. 5 years ago 300 dollars bought you a pretty decent graphics card. Now you need to spend like twice that. At first it was supposed to be the "cryptocurrency miners" driving demand/prices up. But now I guess its the corona lockdown thats killed supply and raised demand making them so expensive. It all changed in 2012...
Needless to say I won't be upgrading my gaming computer. For less than the price of a graphics card I can buy a whole PS5Best lifts:
Bench press: 315x4, 345x1
Squat: 465x1
Strict press: 185x8, 195x5, 215x1
Deadlift: 405x13 (conv tap'n'go with straps)

There are SO many great games out there. IDK why PCcels are obsessed with graphics just to play the latest annual AAA release that is almost the same as the last entry. To top it off, you all constantly shiet on consoles that are not nearly as bad as you make them out to be.
Like, I get the appeal of PC gaming. And there are advantages. I won't underplay the advantages. Yet PCcels can't seem to grasp that there are appeals to consoles as well. Or grasp that they are not as underperforming as they like to state.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a looker at 1080p/60, and it's running on a 0.4 tflop mobile gpu. And it's a ton of fun. As tech increases, the rate of of perceived differences in graphics is slowing down significantly. We should already stop chasing resolution after 4k, it's pointless.Last edited by ScramFranklin; 09-26-2020 at 05:44 PM.

Sure. Why not. That's fine, and again, I get the appeal of gaming on the strongest hardware possible (PC's). I don't just because I like the convenience of consoles. I doubt Series X will have any first party that wont' hit PC, but that's fine. I can play on the weaker hardware (a 12 tflop gpu) and not worry about anything for the next 7ish years.
I play my switch on my 65'' oled and love it. Despite it being WAY weaker than even other consoles. Mario Odyssey it still a looker. Same with Mario Kart. Same with lots of other nintendo games.
But I don't get how PCcels always try and jump in other threads just to trash consoles, oftentimes being factually incorrect. We KNOW top end PC's are more powerful. However, most PC gamers are not using high end PC's-Engineering Crew
