    Muscle memory

    Hi, I'm detrained bcz of a shoulder injury and lost 14 lbs of muscle during my off period, I know that muscle memory is not bro science, I just want to know how real is it.
    Do I need to be in a surplus/ how much protein is required for me to gain back my lms and strength

    Thankss

    It's real enough that I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the results, about 2 months and you're damn near back, srs

    I stopped lifting for two months when gyms were shut down due to the pandemic and lost a lot of strength. Got back to where I was in almost the same amount of time with a lot of effort.

    I'd check with a doctor though if your training should look different due to your injury. That could change the whole game.

    The good news is that it probably wasn't 14lbs of muscle. Probably a fair bit of fat lost too.

    If you want to know why it works, google myonuclear domain theory. You won't get firm answers about how long it will take though - just that it will probably be quicker than first time around.

    Depends on your current body composition. If you want to gain weight you'll need a surplus of course.

    Protein minimum is fine at 0.7 gram per lb.

    Thx for the info, however I'm approximately sure about my muscle and weight loss from taking several body composition tests which said 14lbs of muscle and I lost 37 pounds of overall weight in about 6 months so I know the anabolism in my body was huge

    Nah, BIA devices have no idea how much muscle you have. It's a very rough estimate at best.

    Muscle memory is somehow magical lol, you won't believe how fast your body can adapt and bring back your old muscles. Probably in 2-3 months.

    It's pretty crazy. I took two years off from it when my youngest was born. When I finally got to going again, it only took about two months going part time and good diet to get back to where I was.
    Progress, not perfection. One day at a time.

    Stats;
    5'10
    176 Lbs (Goal 170)

    Current Supplements: EVL Stack; Leanmode, Vitamode, BCAA5000, Aminos, Shred Preworkout, BEETmode. Fish Oil, BSN Whey.
