Nate Diaz (durable, can grapple/bjj, big mouth, interesting, motivated to train as hard as anyone) and Gastelum (all decent fighter cpable of making fights competitive with anyone, humble, hard worker, also durable) interest me the most.
What concerns me about Chimaev is basically that he's running through non ranked cans right now right and left. Literally dropping an entire weight class within days to dominate some bitch. He doesn't need to study his opponent, doesn't need to adapt his gameplan. We've seen no test, he hasn't felt them. We're in the hype bubble but is he also believing he can handle anyone? Because if he's going to fight Wonderboy without doing his prep, he might find a bad surprise. Same goes for guys like Colby, Till, Magny, Neal, ... I think the entire top 6 of the Middleweight division can show Chimaev how life really works.
Maybe the dude stays on track, he seems like an extremely hard worker either way and that will get you far in any part of life. But nothing so far has shown that he is on par with those truly elite dudes.
Feed him a guy like Mike Perry who isn't afraid of anything and who will give no shets about your previous record whilst also being ablo to hang with top 10-15 fighters and we"ll know more about the dude.
Anyway, he's different than O'Malley. That dude is just a twink fighting cans and streaming Call of Duty on Twitch. Can't even take a loss on the chin. Mental midget, not dedicated and honest enough. You'll never beat a guy like Yann, Usman, Dillashaw, Volk, Holloway, Sterling, Aldo if you're not willing or able to get in that champion mindset. When champions lose, they learn something and they are mostly honorable and a big man in defeat. They come out stronger and better, barring losses against the new champs at the very end of careers and such of course. Look at Conor after Nate, Dillashaw after Cruz, Cormier after Jon, ... There's a real difference between the guy saying he works the hardest whilst smoking weed and mainly not training like a true dedicated lover of the sport and the dudes so friggin hungry for the title that they go through huge lengths to even simply TRY to geth in a position. A guy like Adesanya was cocky, but he was obviously doing everything he could to build his technique, style and body. He respected opponents the right way.
Sean just wants the next 50k to smoke weed and play video games all year long until he finally tries heroine and wrecks himself permanently. Being an unlikable twink before accomplishing anything is just a bad move overall.Permanent reminder that MBisonSon is a fgt => https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=181456073

True, but Wonderboy is an exceptional and kind of underrated fighter. He's a bit out of place in this era where we are seeing dudes who train grappling, bjj and striking altogether from a young age instead of specialists who added a few elements to their game to compete in MMA. Wonderboy isn't going to make it out alive when a bear wrestling kunt from bumfuk Dagestan gets a grip on him. But the dude is a very smart fighter and he can make adjustments to stay out of trouble. He's also been on the rough end of a few decisions/surprises imo.
I could see him counter a cocky Chimaev.
But yeah, we simply don't know what kind of calibre Chimaev is so far. It looks promising, but we've seen a lot of hype trains get stopped really hard the last few years. Next fight should be exciting though.Permanent reminder that MBisonSon is a fgt => https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=181456073

Most of the rant is a solid 8/10 but I disagree with O'Malley despite him being a douche. Dude is 25 years old and probably didn't have a strong personality going into the fighting scene. He saw McGregor on TV and thought "damn this guy is so popular, I want to be as popular as he is" so he started copying the tough guy act without actually having accomplished much yet. Not many kids this young have the mindset & humbleness of a champion but also trust in their skill. You need to be a little douchey but since he didn't know any better, turned out to be like the guy he is after losing to Chito. I don't think he means harm, he is just in his head with the marketing a little bit too much before actually achieving the level of fighting to back it up.
I don't like his attitude as much as the next guy but I'll give him the young card for at least the next year or two. If he is the same douche nozzle by 28, then we know that's just who he is now.
To explain your last Adesanaya comment, I don't think you can use him as an example to compare to O'Malley. Izzy has been fighting for a decade and like 6 years(?) before coming to the UFC. He was already an established professional with a huge track record.
Other than those 2, agreed, repped, kawk sukked, high fived, scissor banged, costa humped, bunghole slapped

I get a bad feeling with O'Malley. I like a cocky fighter but I'd like him to back it u^p. A dude like Conor was cocky on his way up but that was mainly expressed through hunger and brutal destructions of everyone in his path. He was talking mad chit mainly after breaking in the top 5 as a fighter.
Weedbruv is talking shet from behind his computer, quite literally. Kinda jarring tbh. This isn't the era where pure talent gets you a belt. There are beasts in every division. He's young, but not THAT young. I get that you try and build a persona of you're in that 10-15 rank and uncle Fester isn't giving you real shots to advance to the top 5 but if you're talking mad trash as an unranked fighter... Smd. Twink's gotta blast every dude in front of him to afford that jazz.Permanent reminder that MBisonSon is a fgt => https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=181456073

True, 25 is not that young anymore in UFC when we have 21-23 year olds wrecking it up like Nasrat Haqparast was 2 years ago. I love the hustle though, dude has 1.2 million followers on insta and 200k on youtube. He doesn't need to sell real estate like Iaquinta(i know its lucrative to sell luxury RE though) because of that.
