Angry Lower Back strain still not healed 3 months later

Pain on the left side in my lower back. Especially hurts when bending over.

Not healing for some reason. I am not putting any pressure on it have not lifted weights for 3 months only weighted calisthenics which puts no pressure on my lower back (push ups, pull ups, lunges)

Was feeling good with only very slight discomfort then played basketball and now it hurts again

    Any tips?

Also I'm 16 if that makes any difference

See a doctor. At your age don't take a chance that there might be more going on then a simple back strain, since it could stick with you for life if you make it worse.

I did light SLDLs when my strained mine, as did glute bridge holds when it started to feel a little better. I am also on my feet pushing a handcart all day for my job, so not sitting down for long periods of time helps as well.

Basically you need to break up some of that scar tissue and tightness with exercise.

I recommend McKenzie treatment which is basically bending in the opposite way to what hurts. It pushes the prolapsed part back to the center of the disc and encourages the ligament (annulus) to seal up and heal.

I've hurt my back several times over my lifting career. Go see a physiotherapist and at least get assessed. If you can't afford treatment then look up the Stu McGill big 3 and do them every day.

    1. If bending over hurts, stop bending over. If you need to pick something up off the ground, brace your abs, and lunge down, or kick one leg back like a golfer picking up a golf ball.

    2. Rest until your pain is completely gone, no lifting, no basketball.

This is the only advice on this thread you should be listening to. Talk to your parents and have them book you a physio appointment

See a sports physio - and then actually do what they suggest. Taking a scattergun approach to trying everything might make it worse.
