PS5 games from Sony will be priced up to $70/£70, Jim Ryan says
"Sony released the official PS5 launch game lineup after today's showcase, and many games on the list are $70/£70 rather than the traditional $60, confirming once again that some next-gen games will receive a mark-up.
Here's the full lineup from Sony Entertainment Worldwide Studios:
Demon’s Souls – US$69.99/¥7,900/€79.99/£69.99 (RRP)
Destruction All Stars – US$69.99/¥7,900/€79.99/£69.99 (RRP)
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales – US$49.99/¥5,900/€59.99/£51.99 (RRP)
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Mile Morales Ultimate Edition – US$69.99/¥7,900/€79.99/£69.99 (RRP)
Sackboy: A Big Adventure – US$59.99/¥6,900/€69.99/£59.99 (RRP)
"These newly revealed titles, along with the games we’ve shown previously, represent the best lineup we’ve ever seen in PlayStation history," Sony president and CEO Jim Ryan said in a blog post. "Games like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, and Demon’s Souls will launch alongside the console. Our own Worldwide Studios titles will be priced from US$49.99 to US$69.99 (RRP) on PS5."

Negs to any *******s dumb enough to think that the new price hike will trickle down to devs (srs). Higher price point just means bigger bonuses to executives.

Meanwhile Xbox exclusives are essentially free on gamepass (know you're chit and get 3 years of gamepass for $1). Inb4 people who have never ever played an Xbox say, "lol no exclusives". That's not the point, the point is your paying $70 for a game Microsoft is essentially giving away for free.
Sony coming out with a weaker console and charging the same price.
Sony doing everything they can to piss their fan base off. Hasn't seemed to work as everywhere I see Sonyboys are rationalizing all these moves. Sony dik must be good dik.Not part of any crews crew

60 dollars is the perfect price point .... Devs and especially the goddamn companies are making record sales and breaking all sorts of numbers + add in mtx/season passes/dlc chit .... I think they're probably making more money than ever. This is nothing more than a ploy just to get more money off your hands and they know that we'll eat it up because that's how gamers are.
As someone who had no issue buying games on release day at full price, multiple ones in any given month at that, this just means i'm going to be far more selective of what I buy from now and wait for discounts.

Lol what?
IMAX movies cost me about 15 dollars for a ticket. General prices for entertainment has gone down, netflix, spotify .... Even gamepass is 120 usd per year and you get a whole host of microsoft first party games + a few other games on day one. That's incredible value. Sony doing this is just greed and because they can.Sig line can't be a novel

This, why anyone would subject themselves to these prices are insane. I've never bought a PC game at full price, heck not even a switch game and those games rarely lose their value. Sony knows how stupid thier fanbase is and are taking advantage. Can't blame them.
Imagine buying Cyberpunk for $70 dollars while I bought it for $40 on pc playing it on 4k/120fps resolution. Just lol.Last edited by taskmob; 09-17-2020 at 01:27 AM.

I miss the arcades. $5, 2-3hrs with a friend and as many different games as one can play. With hardware beyond what was possible at home.
But like everyone said, SNES, N64, Sega (esp Sega CD) had games that were in the $60-70+ range.
Not many remember the Neo Geo, but that system was something like $700 and game carts were $200-300. Now that's expensive.
