Lamar definitely isn't overrated...yet. People are just riding his jock now after discovering he can actually throw a football after being disrespected earlier. I'd say give him one more full season of starting to see what he's made of.

is he the best player in the league? nah
still a top 5 player in the league though. Kawhi played terribly in Game 7 and could not close out what should have been the Nuggets done in 6. But a lot of that blame should go on the coach and PG as well. But not a good look for Kawhi as this is up there.
Alot of top players have choked terribly or had terrible performances at some point in their career. KD gave up a 3-1 lead to the Warriors if I can recall correctly. Curry gave up a 3-1 against the cavs and choked so hard he need to cry for Daddy Durant to bail him out. Harden seems to choke every other year. Giannis got exposed vs the Raptors last year and lol at going 3-0 against Miami and shooting 50% from the free throw line. Embiid is just lol in the playoffs. The mavericks thing of course with Lebron.
I'll say this, people mostly overrate Kawhi's defense and his "clutchness"
can we all agree though that Pandemic P is a role player at best lmaoLast edited by sooby; 09-16-2020 at 10:03 AM.

Like I said he wasn't great but there was bigger issues that Lamar. He was marginally off on a few throws, a couple to MAndrews that hit the hands but weren't perfect and that deep ball in Hollywood that was like a foot overthrown.
There were a few drops, the receivers got no separation and there was consistent pressure up the middle. I think its also pretty clear this Ravens offence is not set up to come back from behind, everything is set up to be a run heavy team6'1, 205 lbs

This was the case the second they went all in on a running QB and should be no surprise.
It’s pretty telling where if the game is on the line and you are down nick Foles may be a better option than the reigning MVP.
Lamar is on track to being the best fair weather QB of all Time.
He’s young AF but he needs to get his **** together, you can’t teach balls and he needs to sack up.

Its more the structure of the talent on the team, and the coaching/scheme
They gave up on the run game way too early, (the backs had a total of 12 carries all game...) but if you are going more pass heavy you need to expand the playbook, rather than running the same predictable play actions
Granted if you come out in a 5 wide formation and just let him pass he's not elite, but he's not bad either6'1, 205 lbs

No you put that solely on Lamar, and thats not fair.
The receiving talent is really poor, the oline is a lot more effecting in the run game than pass protection (particularly interior). Worst of all Greg Roman has no game plan, or playbook for that kind of situation, he just leans on the same play action passes
Lamar's skillset is well suited to being aggressive when behind in fourth quarters, if they are willing to take risks with the play calling6'1, 205 lbs

I got no hate for either guy, but it's probably Kawhi. Most people I know don't consider Lamar the best player in the NFL. Even casuals will go with either Brady, Rodgers, or Mahomes most of the time when asked. Kawhi is consistently discussed as having surpassed LeBron as the best player and is still called the best "two way player" in the NBA by many, even though LeBron has outperformed him repeatedly.

Lamar Jackson. Kawhi blew a 3-1 lead with his team, that chit drops his value down a lot. But at least Kawhi has had playoff success. Young FMVP, were beating the Warriors before the Zaza injury, took Raptors to finals and won.
Meanwhile we have a running dude that can ocassionaly throw, has regular season success, but god forbid playoffs come. Dude will be trash - as seen past two playoffsR.I.P Greg Plitt

Kawhi joined the top seed in the Eastern Conference, with no LeBron there, and they won a championship. He didn't carry jack. He had a nice playoff run, though.
As far as overrated, I mean, I think we gotta give both of these guys their due, and to a greater extent Kawhi, since he's actually handled hardware and been to the biggest stage.*Praying Zeke Goes for 40 Crew*

Anytime someone says that or throws in a qualifier like "best two way player"... I immediately stop talking to them or reading their comment. Kawhi for some reason has a reputation as a stopper... but who has he ever shut down? Lol. And he sure as hell wasn't the best player in any series he played this postseason.

Kawhi isn't top 5.
Bron

Giannis

Harden, in no order
And that's before KD comes back.
I'd probably take Joker over him today as well.
I can guarantee you something else... if Paul George did the smart thing and went to play with LeBron, the narrative on him would be different because LeBron would put him in situations to succeed.*Praying Zeke Goes for 40 Crew*
