From a standpoint of graphical power the X is the best system you can get next gen, the S by far the worst. MS is releasing it for the poverty gamer, or casual gamer and I don't think Sony will be able to compete in that category unless they have a secret they have been hiding. The S pairs very well with MS's new strategy of cheap access to gaming and subscription models pairing it with All Access and Game Pass.... and probably down the line whatever their Cloud gaming service will be.
Parents and grandparents probably gonna find and old 1X or 1S in the stores and not know the difference. That's the real problem with MS's branding on these things. Can you imagine a kid whose parents thought they got him the new Xbox opening an Xbox1S on Xmas morning? LMAO

I've owned a PS2, a PS3, a PS4 and a PS4 Pro, and if the exclusives are right then I'll be buying a PS5 as well.
I'm not a 100% fan boy one way or another, but Xbox didn't impress me at all this last gen and with GamePass having almost everything available on PC, I don't see a need for me to buy one. Sony needs to show up and reveal some quality exclusives however, otherwise I won't feel the need to rush out and buy a PS5 any time soon.
Give me a God of War sequel, give me a Judgement sequel or another in the Yakuza universe(yes I know the old Yakuza games are on PC now as well), give me some quality JRPGs and I'll be happy.

Sony has got me with the PS5, and thus far from what we know in comparison to the Xbox Series X I am really disappointed in the PS5. But at the end of the day, I know I am a one ecosystem guy. I played my xbox360 99% of the time while my PS3 collected dust and I sold my Xbox1 early on as I knew it would get as much use as my PS3 did. So, PS5 has got me even though I am dissapointed in the hardware because I am not going to miss out on Sony exclusives as they are just too good.
I'll get it right at launch because there are games out right now that'll play much better on the PS5 than my PS4Pro. Just hope I can get my hands on one as I got plenty of vacation time to burn this winter as I haven't done much with Cornovirus.

I don't know I think Xbox's strategy of the $35/25 a month console is brilliant. Beyond that the Xbox $500/300 pricing is tough to beat.
Really hard to pass up that value for games.
Series S has no drive and should perform like an RX 580.
Series X has a disk drive and should perform like a 2080s.
Basically if you want High FPS gaming or 4K gaming you need the X. If you are playing on an older TV you will not give up much going with the S. (The only thing is I wanted that disk drive...)Finance Degree - USAF INTEL - IIFYM - Injured Crew - KTM XCW300 - Single Track Trail Rider - NRA Supporter - Shunned from MFC - Libertarian - Pragmatist

Trying to get your ideal outcome often leads to the passing up of practical alternatives that deny your adversaries theirs.

Microsoft is offering some undeniable value, but I hope enough people look past the up front service savings and their marketing because personally, they are pushing what is an ostensibly more consumer-friendly version of the same digitally locked down ecosystem that the Xbox One was originally panned for attempting.
Yeah, Game Pass offers an incredible amount of games for a pittance, but when Microsoft is even putting games on it day 1 that would otherwise be considered as being more system-seller type titles, my concern is a push for quantity over quality.
Or in other words, with Sony, I think of games that are worth owning, whereas the Game Pass model better suits games that you would not justify fully purchasing.
It would be one thing if Game Pass was supplementing a decent library of games, but as it stands, it's basically the only thing going outside of vague future releases that are basically just teasers.
I'd say that the second half of the 360's lifespan is when the Xbox platform began to show its major weakness with a lacking game library, with the momentum seemingly coming to a halt even throughout the entirety of the Xbone's own lifespan. What's worse is that Microsoft responded far too late, resulting in now the Xbox Series launch set to continue this for an indefinite period of time.
And as much as I like what Microsoft is doing in terms of broadening availability, the other side of the coin for them is that anyone with a decent PC has next to zero reasons to buy an actual Xbox.
I can empathize with not feeling the need to rush out for anything, at least based on the present state of known games. With PC, I'm not exactly jumping to bite on the 3000 series when the games for the next 6+ months aren't anything I could not live without playing. At least with Playstation, even someone like me who doesn't follow everything too closely knows that they will only continue to boast a solid exclusive lineup. However, if I was given the choice to throw down for one today, I would not be in any rush going off of only the currently known releases slated.I will stand firm, I refuse to kneel - The fury in me is divine
My dark grave awaits, my fate is revealed - But I'm not afraid to die

That's not true. Console owners care about performance, that's why they want ps5 > ps4. Stop acting like you care about things then when someone brings up something better you act like it's dumb. The 500 dollar card will outlive the ps5 system or last just as long for most people. I'm not saying consoles suck, I like both console and PC, but titles are what matter for consoles, not the specs. The specs are ****tier by a large margin, but the games and how well they are developed make it irrelevant if they lack power. A $650 pc is mid tier at the very best and the xbox will **** all over it obviously when you consider the difference in power. Also PC do more than consoles so it's not like comparing price is really valid. Your card has roughly 7.2 teraflops vs the Xbox's 13. Yes your machine will likely have better cooling, but it won't beat it. THE NEW NVIDIA LOW END CARD HAS 20 teraflops. Nearly double the xbox. Teraflops don't really matter that much and have been largely overstated, but it's a quick indicator of roughly the difference in computing power of the chip. In any event, yes I realize console owners pretend to not care, but as one myself I do care. I will add that it does not matter what I think if you like the consoles. As an example similar to this, I don't think mac's are that great for the specs you get, but people enjoy the OS and the ecosystem and it functions well enough for them so it doesn't matter. My intent was not to bash console owners, but rather to say that spec for spec they cannot compete and it's disheartening to know it's already behind the jump before it even launches (in terms of power).

I really need Sony to show me something as well, as someone who would like to stick with Sony this next gen due to how much I've loved their exclusives for years and the sheer amount of games I already own on my PS account, they haven't done much to impress me so far with the PS5.
I do like how Xbox is sort of integrating all of their stuff together with the game pass, allowing financing, etc... they're definitely ahead of the curve on this one and it feels like Sony is just trying to play catch up.
