A police chief of a suburban village in Illinois was fired after he posted a meme about looters that many found to be controversial.


Thomas Scully worked as the Orland Hills police chief for 15 years, but he was fired on Wednesday over the ******** post.

"We hold all of our public officials to the highest standards in their personal and professional lives in Orland Hills," the village said in a statement, according to WBBM-TV.

"This social media post is in incredibly poor taste," the statement added. "It does not reflect the values of the people of our community, and we will not tolerate such behavior from any of our public officials."

He was fired because he was making a political statement about it. Not whether it's true or not - saying "Looting is bad" probably would have been just fine. But he's essentially saying 'progressives are responsible for this' - which I could see being an issue since as the chief of police he's supposed to be representing the entire community.
