After taking a few months off from gym, I got back into it, as well as starting up the creatine intake again. 5g monohydrate for around 2 weeks now. I definitely noticed me being way more thirsty, is this common?

It can do that. Maybe try 3g instead, you're probably just peeing out any more than that.

It draws water into the muscle so yes you need to increase water intake while taking.
Your nutrition and workout program determines your success.
