    I never do flat BB but I can hit 45kg DB bench * 8 so Iโ€™d guess I could do about 8 reps at 100kg bench as well

    To be honest... never tried so have never gotten a baseline on that . But incorporate some higher rep sets every other week on chest and 2 of those sets are 225 for 20.

    Could do 8-10 reps back when I used to bench at the gym. Stopped a few years ago because I'd rather do DB incline/decline press and I've been working out at home more anyway.

    Same, never do flat bench either. I usually squat around 290 x 7 so I'd say I at least bench 225 for 9 reps.

    Because benching on a slight incline (10-30*) is actually better / easier on your shoulders and gets the same results... if not better , at least I feel like I can isolate and activate more of my pectorals this way... so unless you are competing powerlifter flat bench while still somewhat effective is an ego lift.

    Anecdotally, that may be true. But 44 degrees is the optimal range to activate the clavicular head. Personally, i like the bench to be closer to 60 degrees. I just connect better that way.

    And this study says that (flat) Bench Press training increases pectoral thickness linearly with pectoral strength increases. The bench press allows you to overload the pectorals in a manner that you just cant do with any other exercise. You cant completely active the pecs with BP, because you cant put them on a complete stretch and then fully contract them, but that is what cable flies are for

    Please explain how an incline bench, which puts more strain on your shoulders, is better/easier for your shoulders. Are you flat benching with the weight over your collarbone like a mongoloid?

    Right now, 8 or 9 if having a good day. In January it was 16-17 if i recall correctly

    The last time I benched pre corona I hit 210 for 4x10. Now I'm lucky to do 185 for five. Doubt I could get 225 for a single now.
