This. Which is why it is so confusing to see poors "membering" that the GTX 580 was a flagship and 500 bucks but now we have to pay 1500 bucks for a flagship product omg!
I was going to get the Asus Strix 3090 as soon as it dropped but at this rate I'm just going to wait for the 4K monitor I want to come out. And then I'll buy the best factory overclocked 3090 then.
Come on, monitor makers...yeesh.

not understanding what you are waiting for in a monitor?
The predator x27 is a 4k 144hz HDR Gync with Quantum Dot and fast Response Time. I got that **** forever ago.
If your looking for something bigger or an Oled, you can now buy an LG tv @ 48".
Personally i have a 65" c9 that i will use with the hdmi 2.1 thats coming on the 3090.
Point is, there is nothing really to wait for the technology is out there. Maybe your waiting for a price drop?>

Sooo... I'm upset about the sli situation. Apparently only the 3090 will have the teeth to connect nvlink bridge. This is truely the end of sli.
Why would devs spend any time at all on multi gpu support if literally 99.999 percent will not have this new type of ultra high end config goin forward.
At least now with the 2xxx series, sli has SOME support. The 3xxx series and onward will pretty much kill sli completely and it will only be used for e-brag on 3D Mark and thats it

Yes but I was able to play a lot of big titles with sli. It was awesome maxing out GTA @ 4k with a ton of mods because it supported sli.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Far Cry 5 were more recent examples of good games that had fantastic sli support. It really did make a big difference in my fps with the 2x 2080tis.
I know it's been a running joke that sli is dead, but it's been overstated to make a point about limited support.
This will literally usher in the era of NO support. Sli is truly dead

The cost pisses me off, NGL. I got my 2080ti last month and I hate that nvidia is like apple and sells products at the same price until a new one comes out. Annoying that I paid the same for my card that someone who bought one at launch did
But at least that kept up the price for resale
Debating on just putting the 2080ti in my other machine but thats a 3770k lmao

Lmao @ not waiting for real world benchmarks before jizzing your pants
3070 "faster than 2080Ti"
In what ways? With RTX on? That's probably the only way. How much faster? 2%?
If it's truly fast than 2080Ti for that price then that's extremely impressive. I'll wait for real benchmarks, not synthetic crap companies use to say X is faster than Y just to put on slide shows.Last edited by R3L3NTL3SS; 09-01-2020 at 09:56 AM.

yeah thats what I'm getting out of that.
so the jump goes from $700 to $1500 and nothing in between
Almost making it an absolute certainty that a slightly less powerful 3080ti will release next year as a stop gap in price. Maybe $1,000 to $1,200.
It should have 12mb to 16mb memory since the 3080 only has 10

I have a feeling all that "faster than" and 2X faster than" stuff was either with DLSS on and/or purely with RTX on.
To make a card 2X more powerful than a 2080Ti in terms of raw performance in one generation would be completely insane. But maybe I'm wrong. Hopefully we don't have to wait much longer to see real benchmarks instead of words on launch event slide shows making claims that we've seen many times from these companies are not accurate at all.
