Mirin Sabrent. I got an ADATA that performs better than the top of the line samsungs. People haven't caught on that the best SSDs aren't from samsung.
That phantex looks a lot like the corsaire case I have.

I got a $1000 3700x workstation I built I'm gonna toss a RTX3090 into. I'll switch to the next ryzen if there's a reasonable increase in performance at the 4900 level.
Have a great Friday you motherfukkeeeeeer!

    Lol.
An account with 1 rating on ebay is taking orders for Founders 3080's for. $1,250.
Unfortunate fks who aren't fast enough will pay it too.

Nice. I was heavily considering the Corsair Crystal Series 680X which I really like the aesthetic, but I'd have to use a smaller 280mm radiator instead of the 360mm mounted at the top, and the 3090 would be a really tight fight.

    Should go without saying but...

If I was in a situation where the 3080 is sold out everywhere, I can buy the 3080 at the lowest for over a grand from snakes on eBay, I'm gonna default to attempt to purchase the 3090 for $1500 instead.

Intel has the faster gaming CPUs but they're still on poverty PCIe 3.0 which next gen SSD's will be bandwidth starved and run at half the speed. RTX 3090 might even be bandwith starved a little bit. Plus with Zen 3 dropping in a couple months, I assume any performance advantage Intel has will be gone. Also if we want to talk about RTX IO and whatever AMD's version is of advanced storage technology and streaming assets directly to the GPU off the SSD, PCIe 4 is going to be a big deal. As far as SSD's both the next offering from Samsung and Sabrent will be 7 gb/s read but the write performance is another story. The Samsung 980 pro will only have 3.5 gb/s write while the Sabrent will have 6.85 gb/s write and will probably be cheaper to. I'm using a Sabrent right now as my boot drive and the cost/performance can't be beat.

More like RTX 2000 cards were so expensive and underwhelming unless you went all the way to the top, it made it seem that way.

Was gonna make a new thread to ask this, but figured it's not necessary.

RTX 30 brahs, will you be gaming at 4k or 1440p and why? What CPU and GPU will you expect to have by 2021?

I was thinking if I went with the RTX 3080, I'd go 1440p to ensure the 10GB VRAM wouldn't be an issue and to also pretty much guarantee it'd get 120+ FPS in ultra settings in most games for years to come. If by chance I did go the 3090 route... I could see 4K being an enticing option. Either way I'll need 3 new monitors to handle everything, and I realize if I went the 1440p 144hz route I could probably get 3 solid monitors for ~$300-400 each... versus if I went the 4k 144hz route we're looking at $700+ each LOL.

CPU though I know for sure I'll go the Zen 3 or Intel's 11th. The former if the high end Zen 3 is a leap above the 10900k, the latter if Zen 3 is not. However long it takes for these CPUs to come out.

I have an LG Nanocell 2019 TV which has HDMI 2.1 support, so it has true 4k 120hz. Additionally it offers nearly 1100 nits of brightness for HDR, and has VRR support. So I'll be gaming on that. I'll be using an RTX 3090, and probably stick with my existing CPU for a while which is a Threadripper 3960x. It's obviously more of a workstation than a gaming rig at this point (which is what I use it for, I don't really do a ton of gaming anymore), but it's perfectly capable of both.

Looks like the MSI Ventus 3x 3080 will be priced at $899 and the 3090 at $1699. Wonder if that $200 markup is worth it.

If you are just gaming go 10600k. An easy OC and you have 10900k performance though I would still wait for ZEN 3 to see.

1440P - because I prefer high FPS over higher quality pictures. Beyond that... I will be playing on a monitor 27-30 inches. Because I will not be sitting closer than 1.4-1.6 FT the extra pixel density is worthless.

With a targeted Frame rate of 120+ I should be good for a 3070. I suspect later in the life cycle I will have to start pushing a few things off MAX settings.

Yea I’d be interested to know how these things generally compare in performance. From those ITT who have experience with that kind of stuff

Third party cards are always more than reference or founders. That's nothing new. Usually you get your moneys worth though. In the past you generally got:
    - better components
    - sometimes a mild factory OC
    - usually they OC better (higher end cards at least)
    - usually better and quieter cooling

Saw it on Reddit. Apparently Best Buy leaked the prices.

NVIDIA customizing their reference design is kind of throwing me for a loop so it's difficult to tell if third-party cards are gonna be worth the extra money. We'll be seeing all sorts of comparisons next week so we'll know soon enough.

    soo $1700 +
    Waterblock and backplate +
    tax =

    ~ $2,000

    Damn thats pricey

better off just buying a reference card and sticking a waterblock on it for the same price. I think it's prohibitive for buyers in between 3080/3090 as you can put a 3080 under water for under 1k and get the extra overclock.
3090 is truely for those that want the best or nothing

Anyone ever use Zotac cards? I always assumed they were cheap, etc. But people seem to like them. If their 3080 Trinity was the only card you could find on launch day, would you buy it?

    zotac is good and reliable.
It will run just slightly warmer comparably but you will pay for that cooling from other vendors. Nothing that will be too hot or damaging to the gpu and they are a good company in general.
wont overclock the same way a gaming trio/strix/ftw3 will.

But if that extra 3-5% is worth $200 more to you then perhaps you should be in the market for a 3090 instead
    Zotac is a fantastic option

    Good to know.

They definitely aren't at the top of my list. But if it comes down to it, I'll buy one if it's all I can find in stock.
Right now my wish list is:
    1. Gaming X Trio or FTW3
    2. Either of the Gigabye Aorus cards
    3. Zotac Trinity
