Performance is withing 5% of the 3070 for $100 less. And most of the partner cards are well within 10% or far less of MSRP.
What a time to be a PC gamer, seriously. When inventory settles early next year it's going to be a great time to be building. Last gets high end performance level is now more reachable $$ wise for way more people.

Got the rig all set up boys. Everything works just fine. The SSD's fast (WD SN850 2TB 7000 mb/s read), the RAM XMP's to the current frequency and timings I wanted, got the infinity cache's fclock at 1800mhz (for 1:1 ratio). All the front panel IO (USB 3.0's / USB-C / audio / power button / reset button) works.
Did some mini benchmarks and game sessions, GPU maxed at 71 Celsius after all the stress I put it through, according to Hardware Monitor. CPU primarily sits in the 40-45 Celsius range under load, idles at 38.
Was my first build from scratch, and I was paranoid thinking of how so many things could go wrong. All it'd take is one mashed up pin, or a forgotten chord, and you gotta disassemble and troubleshoot all over again. But nope pretty much no problems so far.

Cooler Master H500m
Never had a PC this fast before. My old PC didn't have WiFi, didn't have blue tooth, only had 16GB RAM DDR3, only had 250GB storage space. Feels like a paper weight next to this thing.Last edited by Visel; 12-03-2020 at 08:02 PM.

It's a sad day, boys. My FTW3 Ultra 3080 bit the dust last night. My screen went black as I was playing a game and the GPU fans immediately ramped up to 100%. After restarting, I couldn't get any video, RGB wouldn't light up on the card, and there was a big fat error light over the 1st PSU cable in the GPU. Working on getting it RMA'd.
RIP

i got a rtx 2080 for $650aud about a month ago, people are trying to sell their 1080tis for $700+. Three months ago they were $500. I think has to do with next gen consoles being unavailable so now people are upgrading their cpu's + lack of supply on the 30xx/6xxxx series cards
