    Again...he's comparing a 2080 which is basically a 2070 Super. 2080Ti is like 20-30% more powerful than a 2070 Super, depending on title.
    That 70% performance starts to look a lot less mind blowing and more realistic when it's compared fairly.

    Looks like AMD spooked Nvidia.

    If the 3070 is REALLY close to a 2080 TI AND priced at $500 it has to be because they were worried about AMD.

    With IPC improvements and the face NAVI is scalable I was expecting BIG NAVI to be 130-140% 2080 TI.

    MY thought is if you want to sell 3060's and the next gen consoles have the equivalent of a 2080s in them. You need to be able to sell the GPU at $350 or it won't make it.

    This the 2080 is like 3% better than a 2070s.

    3080 coming in HOT on my radar for end of the year. How hard I jump on it will depend on whether turning RTX on cuts FPS in half like my 2080 does right now.

    It's $500 cheaper.

    These are a massive upgrade in performance and cost though. The previous gen was nowhere near this much of a jump. People were selling 1080tis used for almost 500$ still for a long time.

    Not seeing how NAVI is going to match 3090.

    I would bet money if NAVI 21 out performs 3080 a 3080 TI will be introduced the next week.

    That is really the only way this pricing makes sense.

    nvidia will always have the flag ship, but pricing/performance on these cards are clearly a product of what Nvidia knows about Big Navi

    Yep. Exactly what I said ITT yesterday. "Unless they're extremely worried about Big Navi, they're not giving you these massive performance leaps for those prices"

    That $500 3070 would be $800+ if they weren't worried about AMD. Nvidia doesn't charge anything less than they absolutely have to. They aren't doing this as a favor to the consumer lmao. This is a direct result of being worried about competition for once.

    Watched the video while it was live, very gamer centered and I'm happy for that.

    RTX 3080 at $700 was $100 less than my prediction (expected $800).
    RTX 3090 at $1500 was $100 more than my prediction (expected $1400).

    The 3080 having 10GB VRAM is pretty good, but I was hoping for at least 12GB. I think that this alone will be a big incentive for some to hold out on getting the 3080 Ti, which will likely have 12GB-18GB VRAM. Only really matters though for those who play at 4K, or dare to try 8K.

    RTX 3090 at a wopping $1500 leaves plenty of room for 3080 SUPER and 3080 Ti variants to make sense down the road.

    Any and all performance comparisons, or "benchmarks", that I've seen for the 3070/3080/3090 have been on the i9-10900k, which is limited to PCI-e 3.0. RTX 30 being a PCI-e 4.0 compatible GPU, this could mean slightly better performance gain if on a PCI-e 4.0 motherboard, AKA Intel 11th gen, or AMD Zen 3.

    I'm skeptical about the core counts listed, because it's labeled as "2x FP32", so you might need to "divide by 2 and multiply by 1.2" to get a true comparison of the core count numbers compared to RTX 20 / GTX 10 for example. Unsure if that's true though, little fuzzy on this subject.

    I think that with everything presented, I'll be doing the following...

    Once a PCI-e 4.0 compatible CPU comes out (AMD's Zen 3 | Intel's 11th Gen), I'll get an all new PC, listed below to describe the upgrades.

    i7-4790k -> 11900k (Intel 11th) OR 4900/4950X (AMD Zen 3)
    PCI-e 4.0 mobo for the above
    16GB DDR3 1666 mhz -> 64GB (16GBx4) DDR4 RAM
    EVGA GTX 1070 -> Gigabyte/EVGA RTX 3080
    250 GB SSD SATA 3 -> 2TB M.2 nVME pci-e 4.0
    Non-modular 750 Watt PSU -> Modular 850/900 Watt PSU
    CM Storm Enforcer -> Corsair Carbide 678C

    EDIT:

    Random thought I wanted to add, RTX 3090 is the only GPU confirmed compatible with the new NVLINK variant for SLI. Good thing to note going forward, pretty much confirms SLI is dead.

    Relax
    Strong Cope

    They did a $100 price cut compared to where they launched last gen...
    And that was almost guaranteed because of the research and development costs bringing RTX to market. Thats been recouped mostly
    Now they bring back normal pricing and everyones up in arms that they must be scared of AMD.

    Am I the only one who remembers when they launched the 8800gt for like 200 bucks? Did they need to do that? no
    There is a ratio of sales to price. If they already have big margins its more important to get the sale than it is to keep increasing margins. You want ppl to commit to the new generation

    If anything, they are more concerned with the new consoles and making pcs seem much more powerful at a reasonable price

    I know... I remember the gtx1060 got a price reduction immediately after the rx480 was announced (its direct graphical competitior)

    When 5700xt were announced, all of a sudden super versions were available with a price reduction on the regular versions.

    This is exciting because now I can't wait to see what big navi is going to do, but i'm likely getting an RTX 3000 series for the software features alone.

    You're truly retarded if you don't think the ONLY reason these cards are less than 2000 series is because they're worried about AMD. Lmao, can't even take anything you post srs now.

    "Here's MORE for LESS!!!" ...said Nvidia like...never.

    The market share they have over AMD is insane. They have ZEROOO reason to offer you ANYTHING more for less other than competition. You know...that thing AMD has basically never been able to to do (until now it looks like)...compete with Nvidia?

    AMD RDNA2 (second generation NAVI Cards) are expected to be a large improvement on the current generation AMD cards.

    NAVI 21 BIG NAVI has a die that is roughly the equivalent of two 5700xts. That combined with IPC improvements means it should be able to beat the 2080TI by 30-40%.
    NAVI 22 Looks A LOT like the XBOX Series X card with a higher TDP and faster memory bandwidth and it wouldn't be unlikely this can match the 2080 TI.

    Nvidia's pricing and performance jumps at each tier reflects that they believe AMD has something.

    You realize that big navi doesnt even exist right now and that if they were at all worried they could simply do a price cut before amd launch.........

    They are not competing with anyone right now
    LOL if you dumb enough to think this price has anything to do with amd

    Also, new leaks from sources that were reliable in the past suggest it's only 15% faster than the 2080ti
    These are from similar sources that nailed down the ampere specs

    So amds big and bad card which will probably have a TDP of 450watts will compete with the 3070.....LOL and also be lacking the drivers, RTX, and DLSS

    BUT NVDA IS SO SCARED!

    They could have done a market analysis for the lifetime sales of the 20xx generation and may be banking on selling significantly more at this better pricepoint

    They also could have had accrued significant R&D costs for RTX that forced them to price so high. Just speculating though

    so you are telling us that nvidia is clueless about what their competition is doing? They pour billions (jensen's words in the rtx3000 video) into research and development but are out of the loop on big navi?

    big navi does exist, we just don't know about it. Big navi in form of a console apu does exist in the xbox series x at 12 tflops. extrapolate that into an actual dedicated graphics card for pc.. nvidia only have one competitor, wouldn't even doubt they have insiders that work for amd being double agents. Nvidia always had immediate answers to AMD, from the gtx 1060 to battle rx480 on announcement, to the super variants released immediately after 5700xt's annoucement.

    Nvidia is very smart, reason they lead the market and won't let AMD have a graphic card more powerful than theirs. You should be happy we have an upcoming $500 card better than the flagship 2080ti.. nvidia never did that in the previous release.
